May 12, 200620 yr Yes the L_F86_VOR1.gau is missing. I found that out too. I just sent an e-mail to both of the authors of the zip file to ask for the gauge. The one on the 2d panel is VOR2. If I get the gauge I'll ask them to make a revision or addon.BobF.I just received this message when trying to contact one of them:The following message to was undeliverable. The reason for the problem:5.1.0 - Unknown address error 554-'5.1.0 Sender Denied'
May 12, 200620 yr Author I'm not sure yet regarding the VOR guage, but I do have the radio stack popup. However I can't get it to function. The previous radio worked fine, but this one I am unable to even chenge the frequencies much less communicate with ATC. Any help here?
May 12, 200620 yr Mine seems to work OK. Did you install the new aircraft.cfg file. Which frequencies don't work, COM's or NAV's? In the original aircraft.cfg it said there were standby frequencies for NAV1 and NAV2. Now there are no stanby frequencies. If your NAV's don't work check the Radio section of the aircraft.cfg file. Regards, Bob.
May 12, 200620 yr Author Thanks Bob Everything was as it should be in the aircraft.cfg, so I decided to fly without ATC. Sometime during the flight the radios came to life. Don't know why or how, but I was tuned into the tower freq. from the saved flight and all of a sudden I was receiving ATC chatter. By the way, in my previous post I didn't clarify if all radios were affected or not, but they were. I'm disappointed in the VC still, as that is where I fly. The 2D panel is an improvement, but I guess I'll have to wait for the "other" F86 that appears to be coming soon and promises a lot. We'll see.I do like the revised aircraft.CFG file better than the original. The original just didn't seem right as it took forever to turn the sabrejet 180*. The revised seems to respond better in the turns.
May 12, 200620 yr Guess,I am doing something wrong but I either have red smoke or blue smoke when the Sabre is on the ground and you are looking from the outside view. Looks like it is on fire!Any help?ThanksEd
May 12, 200620 yr For ilovetoflyI think I recall and had the same problem you had. For me to get the radio to work the first time I had to load the default flight in Seattle with a 172 and then change the airplane to the F-86. Since then I can load a flight anywhere have things working ok.
May 12, 200620 yr Ed, The switches that control the smoke are not labeled right. The top switch that's labeled as Wing on the tooltips controls the red smoke. That switch in the INST-1 jpeg is labeled as Smoke. The left lower switch that's labeled as Beacon on the tooltips controls the blue smoke. That switch is not even shown in the INST-1 jpeg. Try turning both switches off and flying, then turn one on at a time and you will see it. I noted that too. Regards, Bob.

They both now say "Smoke System" not Wing Lights and Beacon Lights" on the tooltips. I have never heard back from the authors. Regards, Bob.
May 13, 200620 yr There is a VOR1 gauge inside of the ProvostT5.cab file that is installed in the Gauges folder during the installation. You can go to the panel.cfg in Window02 and replace the L_F86_VOR1!VOR gauge with: ProvostT5!VOR1You will then get a fully functional VOR1 gauge in the radio stack.BobF.
May 13, 200620 yr Thanks Bob, that works for me even though there isn't a reference dot to center the needles. I can move almost the entire pop up radio stack down, out of the screen view, so I can use it in the VC for instrument approaches.
May 14, 200620 yr I just got a message from Luis. The missing gauge and a revised VC panel are in a file called F86_p.zip here at Avsim. Regards, Bob.
May 15, 200620 yr Any advice on the best jet engine sounds for this great aircraft? Trying to get rid of those Lear sounds.ThanksEd
May 15, 200620 yr Ed,The readme that comes with the original panel recommends an F-16 sound set (f16pw200.zip) which sounds great, athough I've no idea whether it sounds like the F-86 !Alastair
