May 14, 200620 yr I was wondering if Bally landings are possible in FS9 or is the game set up so that if the plane touches the runway without gear it crashes?? I hope they address this problem in FSX. SheaTail Winds all the way.
May 15, 200620 yr >OK, I must not be doing them right, what's the procedure? Land with gear up! ;-) I have done a few emergency landings with no gear, but never tried it on purpose, so I can't help with a procedure of sorts.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW

May 15, 200620 yr The problem with that series of shots is that the ** B-17 was madeso you can do belly landings. With others, it will be hit and miss. Best bet is to bring the plane in as slow as possible, touch it down real smooth. With a little (or a lot) of luck, it'll work.
May 15, 200620 yr <>Just like real life then!!(lol)Managed it in 737...but I agree hit and miss just like my sim flying!RonMac

May 15, 200620 yr I'd hate to be the ball-turret gunner in that B-17!!Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
May 15, 200620 yr The ball-turret gunner in that B-17 would have LOTS of warning, and plenty of time to get out of the turret. My Uncle was in a few emergency landings in England during WWII, and walked away from them. On most regular landings, he was not in the turret on landing either.

May 15, 200620 yr The Sea Hurricane by Robert Sanderson which is available in the library can be belly landed with crash damage enabled and has some cool damage effects. Read the manual for emergency landing procedure & Try it out!LPXO
May 15, 200620 yr Belly landings are possible, I've done them. You just need to be VERY careful to touch down as lightly as you can so as not to exceed the crash tolerance. Some aircraft models are likely more tolerant of belly landings than others, as with many other things... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
May 15, 200620 yr Just last week I did a belly landing in a DreamFleet Bonanza A36. I had turned off the audible reminder (annunciator?) since I was tired of the interruption. Well...I made a perfect gear up landing because I apparently had gotten to the point of needing a reminder. On the issue of ball turret gunners, there are recorded cases when a bomber had to make a belly landing and the belly turret gunner could not be gotten out. It was a heart-wrenching occasion, and one of the reasons the job was not a popular one.
