February 3, 20188 yr I just found this update on Simheaven: In a few days, X-Europe will be online to download. It’s a new scenery using XP11 objects like the standard scenery, but the objects are not set on an autogen rule, they are set like they are in OpenStreetMap (OSM) data, which leads to a more realistic (some people say stunning) look and feel. Meanwhile the release candidate is generated, you could see results of different demo flights with older versions on YouTube, even a comparism between various scenery configurations (Ortho4Xp, Standard, X-Europe): http://simheaven.com/category/xp10/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZzxqygX3ZRF5rIlZuEE7RA/videos
February 3, 20188 yr Looks interesting, i assume it's based on Tony's World2XP? Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."
February 3, 20188 yr Moderator Yep, it's using World2XPlane (This is not mentioned anywhere on the site). Instead of using lots of heavy object libraries, it instead places default scenery objects instead. So I would expect it to perform and work much faster than their older world-models based sceneries, and it also looks much better, at least in Germany
February 3, 20188 yr Is it only overlays to be used on top of photoreal scenery, or can it also be used to enhance the stock scenery and/or HD Mesh v3/v4? I always thought that HD Mesh already had OSM based object placement?
February 3, 20188 yr Moderator It can be used on HD Mesh yep, but I don't see any advantage in doing so. Scenery like this only really shines when you use it with orthos
