Multiple sound problems

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

Just recently in the last few weeks I have lost sounds: No seatbelt sound in Carenado Caravan; no start up sound in Active Sky, no thunder; no TAWS sound in GTN750; no seat belt sound in Phenom 300. I do have aircraft sounds like engines, etc; I have ATC sound in the headset.

I am stumped. Can anyone suggest a setting change or something? Not sure this is the proper forum either?

I can highly recommend 'Driver Booster'. It saved me from multiple FSX/P3D CTDs. It's also recommended in Jim Young's excellent AVSIM guides.

If it was working before, I doubt you suddenly sprouted a driver problem.  I see you are running a pair of 1080Ti GPUs...check your sound configuration in Control Panel -> Sound that one of your nVidia High Def audio devices (or headphones, or perhaps something else) didn't get switched to be your Windows default sound device.

Thanks w6kd! i will check that. In the meantime i took the other advice to get Driver Booster. It found some outdated drivers. On reboot SPAD would not start, Active Sky has regained the sound [good] but P3D will not start now. i get a message: Living World, whatever that is, is causing a problem. its asks to remove/delete LWcfg.xml from a hidden directory.

I don't know enough about computers to do that. So now basically out of business until someone can tell me how to repair this.

aparantly that file was a common error in FSX . Google LWcfg.xml P3D for more info. Im FSX-SE but found the below on google.

Make a copy of the file if you find it and then delete

check these 2 folders for P3d

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3

C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3

make sure 'show hidden folders is checked if you dont see it. You can google how to show hidden folders for instructions

Its a good time to start learning more about your PC and P3d :-)

EDIT

If you cant fix it you can restore your PC to an earlier time to get P3D back

click the windows icon on bottom left of your screen. go to control panel/systems and security/ restore pc to an earlier time

Sounds like good advice, ZMAK. At 82 years now, no medical, sold Warrior, little computer inside experience, i may have to lean on my son to do some fixing.

Thanks much!
