FSD How Good?

Featured Replies

For the record Reggie I'd pay without question for a Seneca update. I would have paid for this over a year and a half ago when it was originally promised. I don't think payment is the problem, what's the problem is it never happened. So in essence nothing was done to the Seneca for FS2k4 and now we have to wait until FSX is released along with a few more new products from FSD before they get around to addressing the Seneca. I don't know about you but current customers of this add-on have been hosed for quite some time now who wanted a full FS2k4 type add-on... There's no way people can compare this kind of service to the likes of Eaglesoft and DreamFleet. Both DF and ES updated all their models as the need arises. I personally would have preferred a new Seneca over the Cheyenne (a few others I know felt the same). It's interesting how some developers (PSS A320 series, CaptainSim 727/707, and FSD Seneca/Commander) handle the release of a new version of Flight Simulator. Instead of taking care of their current customers and products, they just drop current releases in favor of totally new products. FSD should have gotten all their current products (at the time of FS2k4's release) updated and then moved on to the newer products like the Avante for example. It shouldn

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

what's the problem is it never happened. And we all also know the basic problem occured when some very talented staff moved on.To a certain extent aircraft modeling is one area of FS still very dependent upon an individual's insight, goals and vision for the end product. More so than scenery which can be modular.

I kind of doubt we will be seeing many *free* updates to some of the favorite planes we have all bought over the last 4 years. I think there is just too much work involved. I am more concerned that some of the developers will not even update them at all (freeware and payware). There were a lot of cool planes I have had in my hanger over the years that never did get updated to FS 2004.

These products are essentially "toy airplanes" built to mimic the real life version as much as possible. But in the end, they're still a "toy", and a non-essential item!It is not mandated in the book of life, that a developer shall update any and all previous works, to be compatible with a new version of flight sim.If this was so, it could easily lead to early burnout and a genuine lack of enthusiasm to create future products. It's just the way it is!If a particular third party developer has staff who is interested in updates, then fine. But as a flight simmer, I'm not going to expect updates as a requirement to do business. I'd personally prefer the developer to remain interested in developing new products and raising the bar, rather than committing a developer to a life of skullduggery.L.Adamson

I totally disagree L.Adamson...Just because this is a hobby doesn't mean complacency is justified. If you

You know, I can't think of a thing (moral, legal, or otherwise) that requires a developer to update a product for a new release of FS. In the rest of the software market a product gets updated for a new host OS, or it doesn't. If it doesn't, it generally faces diminishing sales and eventually fades away. I have shelves full of games that won't run on Win XP and although it would be nice if some of them were still around - they aren't. I have a bunch of planes that were developed for earlier versions of FS and don't work at all in the current version. I certainly don't feel that the developers owe me perpetual updates. The bottom line is that every piece of software has a life span - and some have reached the end for now.DJ

"What market and/or industry in the world that anyone has ever heard of does that? None of those companies update their software for free as you suggest. In fact many of them, like Norton, make you pay a subscription (almost equal to purchase price) every one or two years to continue any support on it at all.:-lolRob

Ditto what Charles said...and greetings from Franklin, TN.(-:

Guess thats a matter of opinion. Personally I have had exceelent support for FSD and just so-so support from Dreamfleet.FireFighter

devonaireAs I have said to you elsewhere, as long as you choose to conceal your identity when making these anonymous comments, its isn't possible for us to understand what your concern actually is. If you are in fact a customer, and if you would like to contact us directly, then I - or we - will be able to figure out just what your problem is and probably resolve it. Rgds,
