April 7, 20188 yr I have a GTX-580 Classified Ultra video card. The cooling fan has quit. My temps go up to well over 65 Deg. C. The fan is supposed to come on but it does not. I have used an air can and it is free to turn. I don't know if it is the fan motor or the driver. I see the fan can be removed and replaced. The fan motor is on E-Bay for about $25 plus shipping. Would it be worth trying to repair it or get a new GTX-1050 4 Gb card at $270. Has anyone used the GTX-1050 4 Gb card on FSX. If so how does it work. Thanks, Bob.
April 7, 20188 yr I don’t think repairing it would be worth it. I think going for the 1050 would be your best move. If you could repair it, what would happen if it breaks in say 3 months? Orman
April 7, 20188 yr Commercial Member If you have no intentions of moving to a 64-bit sim platform then the 1050 should be okay (we'd have to know your processor to be sure). But if you have any aspirations of going to a 64-bit sim then I would hold off for either a 1070 or 1080 with as much VRAM as you can get. Best wishes. April 7, 20188 yr 1070 is the middle ground for P3D... But if you want to stick to FSX a 1060 is a good choice... April 7, 20188 yr Author Thanks Guys. I appreciate the help. I do not plan on going to a 64 bit program. How does the 1050 4 Gb compare to my existing 589 3 Gb card for FSX. I get good FPS with my 580. Do I need a 1060 as one reply mentions. Bob.
