FTX Europe regions for Q400

Featured Replies

I already have Orbx FTX Norway and love flying the Q 400 in that country. I would like to get another region , and wondering what region would have the most airports suitable for the Q400:

England

Germany North

Germany South

Ireland

Scotland.

Flybe, based in the UK, is the largest operator of the Q400 worldwide and flies a good number of domestic routes, so England could be a decent first choice. Scotland would add Flybe's bases in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. Plus you get to fly Flybe's lovely purple livery...

Austrian Airlines also has a remarkable Q400 fleet.

If you are not bound to FTX regions I would recommend Austria Pro HD. It is a complete photoreal scenery with custom objects and autogen - definitely on par with FTX (but summer only).

Austria offers some very nice regional airports suitable for the Q400: LOWG, LOWI, LOWK and LOWS. All of these are available as addons - including Orbx LOWI, probably their best scenery of all so far. All these airports are located in a spectacular Alpine scenery and offer some demanding procedures. A joy to fly with the Q400.

As a larger airport you have LOWW.

And you can extend this region to Switzerland (Switzerland Professional) and Germany (FTX Germany South) with some more addon airports.

If you are keen on Orbx then the FlyBe idea is good. Airline2Sim did a set of line flights using a mixture of Orbx and UK2000 airports along with the England and Scotland regions. For Q400 flights there are plenty of options with these regions.

If you want to have some "fun" there then try taking the Dash into London City airport!
