June 25, 20187 yr I went back to designing sunsets a few days ago. I had been caught in the crossfire of two mutually exclusive ideas - or so I thought. I don't care for using sunglow files to make a sunset as it causes some odd problems but the sunglow files are pretty much required for the daytime to look good. My problem was how to mix the two but dataref editor helps out a tremendous amount. Here are just four simple pics. note that I increased dome/sun_gain_1_hdr and dome/sun_gain_2_hdr both by .2 (from .8 to 1.0 and 1.6 to 1.8)(gain1 is the halo and gain2 is the sun texture. I changed the colors of some of the foregrounds on the sunglow (mount in this case) and deleted the postsunset textures. It seems to work quite well except for the sometimes jarring environment lighting change. anyway...four pics: | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. June 25, 20187 yr Looks quite nice... even very nice. Did you manage to get rid of those awful lines in the sky during dawn/dusk? This topic is not related to what I'm referring to, but the screenshots show what I mean...https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/113556-solved-sunrise-and-sunset-wrong-illumination-in-cockpit-very-annoying/ Regards. June 25, 20187 yr Author yes. its the sunglow file that causes those lines. that's what I mean by not liking to create sunsets using that method. but the day requires the sunglow so I created a bright mix point and they handoff pretty well imo. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life.
