Just Flight L-1011 Professional vs Aerosoft DC-8

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am looking for an aircraft lower than 40$ with a nice quality and details (VC, Systems, etc) and can fly long flight. I found these 2 aircrafts with same price. fspilotshop sells Tristar with 35$. Aerosoft store sells DC-8 with ~ 40$. I don't want Captain Sim L-1011 because it's the L1011-100 which has a range of 2600 nm. I currently have feelThere E-Jets v2 and Aerosoft A320/A321. I want something better.

Now I am asking which aircraft is better. I personally prefer L-1011 as an aircraft because it got a range of 6000 nm with maximum fuel and can carry 240 passengers, while DC-8 has 4700 nm and 190 passengers. But I don't know if it modeled very well in comparison with DC-8. If you got a better aircraft with same price it would be great.

Regards,

Abdullah Radwan

Aerosoft DC-8.

I have the L1011-500, but its memory consumption is way too high.

I think this shouldn't be big deal. If you have DC-8, which aircraft is better in terms of details and systems?

Looks like I have to choose DC-8 because L-1011 price has raised up to 53$. The Captain Sim maintains 40$ however I wish if they made L-1011-500. Anyway DC-8 seems to be modeled great in VC and systems specially the INS. I just want a review to make a final decision.

You can read through about 4 pages in the P3D forum when it was released.  Those guys like to tear things to pieces so it should tell you what you want to know!

I do not have the DC-8, but followed its development quite closely.

What about Captain Sim 707? It's also 40$ but it have little more range (5000 nm). Is it better than DC-8?

No, the 707 is a fine (and simple) aircraft but is several years old and just won't match up to today's technology.

I think the newer Capt Sim 1011 is superior to the JF version.

Agreed about the 707. Much to my regret, it isn't even available for P3D v4. As for the L 1011s, I personally was more or less equally impressed by JF and Captainsim. Both are fine airplanes, although both do not actually model the plethora of systems in the plane. Most switches do work, which is already impressive in this bird, but it seems that many do not have an influence on the airplane's performance.

The Aerosoft DC-8 is a different beast altogether. Quite a few buttons cannot be pushed, but everything you push has an effect on the plane. I have never been as busy as in this model during a virtual flight, it really requires attention. Adding to this that the visuals meet 2018 standards (it is the youngest model by a margin) makes me recommend the DC-8 without a doubt.

Come to think of it, the excellent documentation of the CIVA-INS system alone made this purchase worthwhile.

Thank you so much. However the Captain Sim L-1011 is the short range variation.

Thanks for information. I will really look into DC-8 and it's probably my choice. I will see if I can save some money for QW 787. If not, I will buy DC-8.
