FSX/FSX-SE? New Here to AVSIM

I recently got the BUG for Flight Sim - Have a Yoke and Joystick - Running FSX on Steam - Purchased a few aircraft and downloaded some.  Looking at the FXscenery purchases.  Few Cessna 150 and Piper Tomahawk (Soloed in Tomahawk) - Did that about 30 years ago, then life got in the way.  Still remember the feeling.  Want to get into ILS Landings and Vectoring.  Played with G1000 panels, but used some simulators, and seems the FSX port of G1000 is very limited...could not select nearest airport.  The airports were 4000km away, with one within 200 miles.- maybe im missing something.  Hope to get into Multiplayer and VATSIM soon.  Im building a new Yoke with ball-bearking slides for smoother play - The CH Products one has a lot of friction.  Also want to build my own rudder pedals.  Great plans....Love taking off when I have  few minutes.Great fun.  Any suggestions, let me know!!!
