Falcon 50 APU?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Is the APU unavailable on the beta? I seem unable to start it. Is there something silly I am missing?

Thanks

See if this APU start checklist from the sim Kneeboard Checklist dropdown helps (I've added some comments).

On the Falcon 50 clipboard (shift + 1), select ready to start engines. This 'accomplishes' the required checklist steps that you would typically have to go through to get to the APU start checklist section.

GROUND START POWER SOURCES
(SELECT ONE: APU / GPU / NO.2 ENG)     (this switch is in the engines start area on the overhead panel)

1) APU START

[ ] Main Bus Tie Switch

FLIGHT NORMAL OFF/LIGHT ON     (This means tie the A and B buses together with the rotary switch on the overhead panel. A light will show on the annunciator failure panel)

[ ] No. 2 Booster Pump

ON  (switch on overhead panel)

[ ] Master

ON  (APU Master switch)

[ ] Gen

ON   (APU Generator)

[ ] Start

PUSH

[ ] Monitor

RPM/EGT

If no T5 rise in 10 secs, STOP pushbutton (Wait 5 min before attempting second start)

PRESS

[ ] Voltage and Load

CHECKED

[ ] Batteries Charge Rate

CHECKED

[ ] Bleed Air

AS REQUIRED

Be sure that all three generator switches are on, the bus tie switch is horizontal, and the center tank boost pump switch is on.

I don’t have the Flysimware aircraft yet, (about to purchase), but those would be prerequisites on the real aircraft.

Thanks that worked having the bus tie in the right position. I always forget about those in a Falcon most crews are friendly and get them into a normal ground position. Some crews aren’t and you put external power on and very little powers up. I’m disappointed there’s no sound for the APU though! And the missing clacker for the electric trim!

Thanks

Hi Folks,

There's no sound for APU - odd ?

Some enterprising individual could make some from a video like this - I have no idea if this sounds close to the actual Falcon APU though - better than nothing...

A nice illustration of igniters as well...

Scott

I have both the trim clacker and APU sound. (Beta 2.5 in P3D 4.3).

I'm in P3D 3.4 but I'm beta 2.4, I'll try going to 2.5 later tonight!

I had the sounds in 2.4 as well. FWIW, I initially load the default Cub with engine running, and then load the Falcon. Not sure if that makes any difference in how the sounds initialize.

I'm loading right into the sim with the falcon. I'll give that a try too.

Hi Folks,

ok - I’ve looked and looked for the APU start switch - the steps after turning on the #2 boost pump ? I can’t find the switches for these steps - is it just the #2 engine start switch ?

Thanks...

Scott

On the side console to the right of the copilot’s seat. Depending on your camera viewpoint, you may need to click on the copilot’s arm rest to raise it out of the way to give a clear view of the APU controller.
