September 4, 200619 yr The ATL in FSX will not include the new 5th runway. The jepp data they used for FSX is from April 2006. This was before the new runway was open.It also means there will be no VTBS, the new Intl. airport in Bangkok.I tried! Sorry.http://www.cpavirtual.org/images/banners/MyNewCrapBanner.jpgEric Thornton - CX001 Eric Thornton
September 4, 200619 yr I believe tdragger said the airport data was April 2005 and the longer lead time than usual was due to the redesign of the world.Anyway - RJGG is complete.WSSS has the third runway - but it is not connected to the rest of the airport - a certain AI issue there I'm sure.ZGGG is moved to the new airport - nice terminal also.North Korea still only has one airport. And according to the Dump Airports list - there are 24,491 airports in FSX, though the Yokosuka heliport is listed as an airport with no runways.
September 4, 200619 yr Author I hope that database includes the new 5L runway entry at OSDI.. The whole runway has been reconstructed and they established a new parallel taxiway too. The airport had only 1 exit/entry point to rwy 5L/23R in FS9, and AI aircraft were going 'through' each other all the time!In reality -according to GEarth- that problem has been solved. FSX???Would you please verify that for me? Anyone?!Thanks ahead..
September 4, 200619 yr The FSX airport looks pretty much the same as the FS2004 airport - especially the taxiways.Just as we were able to apply such updates in FS2004 with SceneGenX or AFCAD, I'm sure we will have a tool soon to make such updates in FSX. It may not be AFCAD, but something will come along. So far my efforts to locate and modify the data on airports has been unsuccessful.

September 4, 200619 yr Author Well, that's a let-down for their new (worldwide coverage) theme.. Anyway, I can't and I won't blame anyone for this because i'm not even sure if they had this fix -in reality- before April 2005 or after.. And because apart from that little problem, the airport looks accurate enough for their first (international-themed) version. Next version (FSXI), however, should have this fixed, or else they'll have to remove that 'international' badge from the cover IMHO.. :-outta
September 11, 200619 yr >WSSS has the third runway - but it is not connected to the>rest of the airport - a certain AI issue there I'm sure.No that's not an error have a look at google earth and you see why.that third rwy is not linked with the rest of the airport in any way ...
September 11, 200619 yr Even if it is realistic - and FSX does not have the aprons and taxiways - it will create havoc for AI aircraft and user aircraft landing at WSSS unless the runway is marked as a closed runway and completely closed in the code. That does not appear to be the case - though I can't look at the code yet.
September 19, 200619 yr "Helsinki, FinlandMalmi EFHF"It's EFHK (Helsinki-Vantaa) what's highly detailed not Malmi. EFHF (Malmi) is just small GA airport.
September 19, 200619 yr >EFHF (Malmi) is just small GA airport. Why couldn't it be also highly detailed in FSX? Size doesn't always matter. On the other hand, with Arlanda from Stockholm and Gardemoen from Oslo, the choice to be included in FSX will most likely be Helsinki-Vantaa, not Malmi.

September 20, 200619 yr I have a question about the high detail airports.I have the demo and there is photoreal scenery at Julianna and grand chasebut I have been looking at screen shots that beta testers have been postingand I haven't seen any photoreal airport scenery. The one that stuckout most noticeably to me is DFW.I was flying over JFK in FS9 the other day and it looked really good.Do the 'highly detailed airports' in FSX have photoreal scenery? (like JFK and DFW and ORD and LAX and SFO and I'm sure others all do in FS9) | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. September 20, 200619 yr Hi,No, it's all been removed (or almost all anyway), due to the new world model. They didn't have time to redo all the photoreal stuff from scratch.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
