January 12, 20197 yr Author Sir, Nevermind, I figured it out on my own. When I clicked to update, it said I already have the latest version. I bought your product in one month ago, so it hopefully is your latest version. Well, I guess that leaves me still stuck with a half-working system in my FSX-SE. Sorry to say it once again, but this is the only add-in product to cause such problems with FSX-SE. Regards, Richard
January 12, 20197 yr Like written in the aforementioned discussion:It is available either via Settings Panel | Check Updates... or directly from our web site. Also in our web site support section:Update your product with the latest versionhttp://reality-xp.com/support/index.html Basically it resumes to: How do I reinstall my software?http://reality-xp.com/store/faq.html just that you're using the currently downloadable e-commerce installer from our website, instead of using the one you've already downloaded in the past!
January 12, 20197 yr 2 minutes ago, RSomerville said: When I clicked to update, it said I already have the latest version. This is improbable so this begs the question, because the latest version, v2.5.11, has just been released yesterday morning (our time). I'd really suggest you just proceed in reinstalling the latest version (see above "how do I reinstall...") over what is currently installed.
January 12, 20197 yr Author Sir, You may think I am stupid or something, but I try everything you suggest and nothing works. You send me links and short statements that do not fully or plainly communicate to a non-technical person. I asked you what "Settings Panel" and where and I hoped you would answer my question directly, like what and where. When I said I figured it out, I thought it was settings on the Reality-XP GPS panel in the aircraft (one that works for me). I clicked on "Check updates" and it said I have the latest version. I clicked it anyway and I do not know what ultimately resulted. Then I read in your lengthy technical instructions "Before installing an update, make sure Flight Simulator and/or X-Plane is not running". So, I have no clue what or how to do this. I try to follow the detailed instructions in the links you provide, but when I "select the REINSTALL button (you don't need to manually enter your personal information again" it will not let me do so. It gives me an error message that my user name and/or password are wrong, or something regarding either/or invalid something or exceeded attempts. Since you are now informing me of an update that might solve my issues, can't you just send me a direct link to update? I was not automatically notified of any updates, so this is the first I know about it. Thanks, Richard
January 12, 20197 yr Author Sir, Correction: it was not the Reality-XP GPS panel in the aircraft, it was the Configuration menu, where in the lower left there is a "Check updates" button.
January 12, 20197 yr Please don't misread my comments. It is technical by nature and I'm trying my best to make it as simple as possible. It is not always easy but the fact of the matter is that the mere fact of using a computer inherently begs for learning and understanding a minimum of technical facts and you're doing great so far. Also please, don't interpret what I'm writing. Example: 45 minutes ago, RSomerville said: "Before installing an update, make sure Flight Simulator and/or X-Plane is not running". So, I have no clue what or how to do this. Well how do you make sure a program is not running? I guess if the program is running already, you just quit/exit/close the program? If not running already, then you've already answered. As for your other comment, I'm not saying you're stupid at all. The RXP add-on tells you're up to date whereas the latest version has been released yesterday morning. Unless you've manually downloaded the e-commerce installer (which we outsource our e-commerce solution to - the red aircraft icon installer) since yesterday and tried to reinstall your GTN with it and your purchase key/password as recommended, or your registered account to our e-commerce procurement partner, the only possible reason it says it is up to date would be a bug which has never occurred in the last 10 years using the very same update/check system NB: improbable is not the same as impossible... This could be a bug we've introduced in the last version (unlikely but still). This is why I find this "improbable" and "this begs the question". The only other reason it tells you it is up to date is because there is a 24H window between checks, meaning once you've clicked 'Check Updates...' and the system 'caches' the results locally, it takes 24H before the button will check again online. Also, it is normal you were not prompted to update: it is a user triggered action, not an automatic background check. It saves your CPU from wasting unnecessary cycles, and it saves our solution from any CTD when the simulator loads in case the 'update' sub-system fails. Now all this energy writing and explaining doesn't solve the problem you're experiencing on your FSX-SE while it is still working perfectly fine on your FSX. To recap: you've downloaded the latest e-commerce installer from our website ok. You've pressed the 'REINSTALL' button ok. It says there is a user name/password error or something about exceeded number of attempts. So does it tells one, the other, or both? In the Store FAQ: For the former: What if I lost my password, I changed my email address, or need a replacement certificate? For the later: I have reinstalled a few times, and I am now receiving Key Reactivation warnings? Nevertheless, is there any chance you could post screenshots of your file/folder security settings for these 3 folders: 4 hours ago, RXP said: These are folders which you must check access rights: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\ C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\SimObjects\ C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\ Edited January 12, 20197 yr by RXP
January 12, 20197 yr Author Sir, I have been at this since dawn today. I am worn out and have been working on other things in my life, less technical. I mean no offence to you. I miss spoke earlier, of course, I knew I had to turn off FSX-SE as it was running when I saw your instructions on that point. So, I stopped to turn off FSX-SE. Also, on the other matter regarding the error message, I got it when I tried to do the update, I may not be accurate in exactly what the message said. I tried to copy it, but that was not possible. Also, as to taking screenshots, I am not able to do that at this time. My Windows 10 does not have Clipboard and I downloaded an app to do so and it does not work at this time. I am very frustrated with all this and have several other tasks on other projects I need to take care of. I'll have to get back to you. I am still determined to get this to work. Hopefully, your new version will do the trick, if and when I can get it on to my system. Thanks, Richard
January 12, 20197 yr Author Here's the screenshot for C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\. The others you requested are the same.
January 12, 20197 yr I fail to open the screenshots larger, but I think I can decipher the content. It looks much crowded but it might be normal on your system (usually there are way less entries). Nevertheless, I'm not sure I can see your account access rights there, nor the 'everyone' access rights, but I've found out a much better explained illustrated guide about how to change access rights you might want to review: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/88436-change-permissions-objects-users-groups-windows-10-a.html
January 13, 20197 yr Author Sir, This is a screenshot of the error message I get when I try to reinstall Reality-XP: Please advise. Richard
January 13, 20197 yr Richard. These are a hassle, but necessary in today's ecommerce world. Log into your F1 account. Click on "Your Account". When there, click on View "F1 Orders". You will see a list of your orders. Make a note from there of the order number for the product you need to reactivate. You will also need the email address you used when you placed that order. Now, Look at my image below. In the middle of the first paragraph, above the list of orders, find what I have circled: "order activation page". Click there and follow the prompts on the screen that follows. Once you have completed the process you will have additional activations available for that product. January 13, 20197 yr Author Thank you Frank, I followed your suggestions and was able to get Reality-XP to reinstall into my FSX-SE. However, it did not solve the problem that I have been dealing with for a month. That is Reality-XP does not show up in any of the FSX-SE default aircraft (the Configuration menu is there, but no GPS panel). I don't know if the reinstalled version is the new version v2.5.11, including a few changes in the 'menu' code, that they said might prove worthy on my system. Nothing has changed. Thanks, Richard

January 13, 20197 yr 46 minutes ago, RSomerville said: That is Reality-XP does not show up in any of the FSX-SE default aircraft What does this mean? Not show up? Have you installed it using the RXP installer menu as a single popup window? Be a good start.
January 13, 20197 yr Author Frank and Adrian, As I have explained to the folks at Reality-XP (primarily RXP President) is that their GTN 750 product does not show up in any of the FSX-SE default aircraft. Specifically, the Configuration menu does show up in the Add-ons menu in all aircraft, but the actual GTN GPS unit does not appear in the Views/Instrument Panel menu in FSX-SE default aircraft; it works fine in all add-on aircraft. Reality-XP states that they have a workaround built into their product to work with FSX-SE, but for some unknown reason it is not working in my system. I also use FSX (boxed version) and have the GTN 750 installed in that program and it all works fine with all aircraft; default and add-ons. I also have X-Plane 11 and I am hesitant to spend more money and time adding it to that program, out of concern of related problems. Hope this clarifies what's going on. If anyone has any solutions to suggest, I'd be glad to try them. Regards, Richard
