Anything new regarding the fileplanet beta?

Featured Replies

Stupid I know but I registered last week for the opportunity for the fileplanet beta. Of coarse I have not heard a word yet and now starting to get rather upset about it. I contacted my CC company and I am well within my legal rights to start the charge back process. I have not done this yet because I hope the beta is still on its way. Perhaps after some bugs are fixed??? I am sure the version we get MS wants it to be as clean as possible and if we report good things this will become the release version. So its possible the public beta is the final step and MS is not ready yet. If this is the case then thats fine with me!! I believe most of us are grown adults and can handle the status even if its not what we want to hear.

According to a certain MS fellow who goes by a username beginning with t and ending with r :-lol the beta hasn't started but may start this week perhaps possibly.

You paid for a monthly or yearly subscription to Fileplanet, you didnt pay for a beta, it was clearly stated that your werent garantied the beta when signing up for it. I think the chances of getting a refund are non existing.

The disclaimer on the page does not hold a lot of water when funds are exchanged. You can't use one product as a bait to get you to sign up for another service. Even with the disclaimer in place!!!A better and more legal strategy would be to have people sign up and you are chosen then you will have to subscribe to the down load service because of the size of the file involved. No funds are exchanged "until" you are chosen. I am not looking to get real nasty here. $16 is not much for me so I can really careless about that. If I got rejected then I would write it off as a gamble and never renew my fileplanet subscription again. However the total lack of official information is making it a bit more nasty. I have hopes the official MS person here is correct and that it will be released this week but his wording is no gaurantee. This could be something or it could be nothing but the official link below is no longer active. It was as of early this morning. http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/flight_simx/

That's must have happended this evening because when I tried an hour and a half ago it was still working. :-)

Link still works for me, takes me to the signup page.

Now we wait:-badteeth I get the page can not be displayed message as well.

How strange. Worked for me earlier but now I get"The page cannot be foundThe page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."

I'm confused. Fileplanet clearly stated, that signing up for their services does not guarantee you a chance at the beta, yet you signed up anyway??? How is Fileplanet responsible for your actions?

A bunch of Avsim members who should have known better than to sign up to Fileplanet just to possibly get the FSX beta (yes, I admit it I was one of them .:-shy) will now eagerly check their emails.

>I'm confused. Fileplanet clearly stated, that signing up for>their services does not guarantee you a chance at the beta,>yet you signed up anyway??? How is Fileplanet responsible for>your actions?Come on you know if you had $16 and you were as excited about FSX as we are you would've as well.

>A bunch of Avsim members who should have known better than to>sign up to Fileplanet just to possibly get the FSX beta (yes,>I admit it I was one of them .:-shy) will now eagerly check>their emails.I'm an eager Fileplanet member who has started posting at AVSIM, can I join in too? :(Just to humor everyone here, when I put the monthly charge for FP in my check registry the other day, I listed it as "Charge for FSX Beta" instead of the usual "Fileplanet Charge".

Just that it's not Fileplanet's fault that he did.EDIT: Also, I just had a glimpse in my head of how funny this thread is going to be in a few hours when the beta goes up.

Yeah, right. That beta is never coming. And the people who know won't say anything about it.

This is like the 3rd or 4th thread on this subject. Tdragger said in a previous incarnation that it may come out this week. I have no doubt that it will come out though. It's not like fileplanet to just announce a beta then never release it. Besides, as I've said before, even though they said that if you sign up you may not get on the beta, there's a big difference between you not getting on the beta and there not being one at all.
