Hi my names Terry and I am a total novice at using a flight sim. I decided to try to learn how to fly using a sim as I got totally fed up with playing golf online for the past 7 years so consequently I have no idea of how to use one and at 74 yrs of age i'm willing to try anything. I haven't even got my sim yet ( Xplane 10 from Ebay ) its due for delivery in 2 days along with a thrustmaster joystick so I'll be looking for some sort of guidance and tuition and if I crash then there's no harm done just another lesson learned. So any advice for this total beginner would be most welcome , thanks for your time guys. Rdgs Terry

Welcome!  X-Plane is at Version 11 now and X-Plane 10 is fairly old.  Hopefully you will still enjoy.

I intend to learn the basics of flying in XP10 and then will probably get XP11 at a later date but it's a case of walk don't run initially I just want to fly properly no matter how long it takes

After all I'm an angler so patience I have by the bucket load

Welcome to the forum  Roadheader.  I have XP11. I am in my 60's Terry. I know the feeling. Loads of practice, and you will do fine.  Happy Flying!!!!!!
