Loss of engine sound NGX

Recommended Posts

After a fresh 4.4 install and fresh download of the NGX I have no engine sounds.  I can hear some brief start up sounds but that is it.  All other sounds sound correct.  I have tried one reinstall.  All sound settings have been verified. All other PMDG birds are good.  Has this issue been reported recently?

Try adding under sound in the p3d config time_constant=0 and see if this fixes it.

Not seeing this here.  I do have the time_constant = 0 line added under the [sound] section in Prepar3D.cfg.

You might try going into P3D -> General -> Sounds menu and hard-selecting the desired audio device rather than the standard "default playback device."  Also, unless you are using it, disable the HD Audio device on your nVidia GPU in the device manager.

IIRC, the NGX itself allows you to select an audio device in the PMDG Options page in the FMC, although I would suppose that to be for panel sounds and not engines.

Regards

Well I tried all the above and still nothing.  This is very odd.  I have never ever had an issue with a PMDG install.

Problem solved.  My default sound device was set at surround sound.  Set back to stereo.  No idea how that changed but good now.  Thanks guys for the help.

Updating the sim will do it for the sim. If it was your Win settings, it is likely due to driver updates through the usual Win update channel.
