Improve Your DEMO's Scenery and Perfomance!

I don't see any REVELATION here. I tried it and I see absolutely no difference - either in performance or in the look. If this guy claims that he can really get '7 cm' ground resolution in this demo - I am afraid he is daydreaming. By the way - his pictures are all made from higher altitudes - yeah, great proof that he got '7 cm'. Mine '1 m' looks exactly the same. Some folks should really go to school first :-lolMichael J.

FSX will ship with 1m resolution textures anyway so you won't see any improvement if you set the slider below 1m.The autogen in the demo is known to cause a large frame rate hit (but the hit has been greatly reduced since) so running with no autogen will obviously improve frame rates.

"Some folks should really go to school first."Unfortunately many of us in the forums and new to the FS tend to believe and trust those others who seemingly are knowledgeable enough and willing to kindly share their knowledge and wisdom with us. That's why I looking forward to the multi-player (e.g. Instructor/ student feature...) in the FSX.

I've got all of my recent screenshots up in a flickr album herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/notasenator/s...57594247503024/They are at a variety of settings with autogen, AA, AI, etc at different levels, but the quality stays pretty close. I slewed up a few thousand feet in the ultralight and then flew back down, and those are the first couple of shots in the set. You can see that even on a very old system, it can look really really good.http://static.flickr.com/88/222294357_a32a86cb45.jpg

Yes they look great, can't see any advantage of setting ground detail higher than 1m as thats as clear as it gets in the demo?.Also if you want to see those 1m textures keep up with your aircraft cap the FPS!, I find 15FPS allow's me to fly in the CRJ and the textures keep up with me. There has been big changes from FS2004, in FS2004 the texture update seemed to me tied to the FPS,more FPS faster updating of ground texturesIN FSX it's the opposite, try a flight with no FPS lock then try one with the frame rate locked to 10FPS.... night and day, jerky yes, 1M textures priceless:)John

I came up with a better solution! It seems the Autogen bug has reared it's ugly head again! rename the extention of the default.xml file in the autogen folder, and your FPS will soar with the high res textures and 100% Autogen!!! I'm getting 25FPS (Locked) even at TNCM. Before I got 10 FPS at TNCM!Edit: This is also with 100% Traffic. (Ultimate Traffic)Edit: OOPS! Nevermind, I didn't realize I lowered the water detail to level 2 low. It was that that was responsible for the increase in FPS. With Water Detail at max I still get 10-12FPS.Sorry! I actually like the water settings better at 2-Low, so that's not a bad tradeoff! All other settings are maxed! (Except GA aircraft which I have off.)

Thanks

Autogen and traffic is off, and everything else at full, locked at 25fps, stays around there.I still get some choppiness, but only in free spot view. It's odd. I can switch views and things work fine.

Whether it is a "REVELATION" or not those settings have worked really well for me. I have got a solid 25fps now. I was really struggling before.Excellant!Rhydian
