August 10, 200619 yr Hello everyone,Why is everybody so negative about the demo? Look at these pictues, taken by me. The final product will be even better.Nice job to the Aces team! This is my system:Intel Pentium 4 3 GHZ HT1024 mb-ram 400 mhz120 gb hddAti 9800 pro 128 mb-ramimg95.imageshack.us/img95/4623/fs1ib1.jpgimg159.imageshack.us/img159/5006/fs2vt6.jpgimg99.imageshack.us/img99/9955/fs3vr2.jpg
August 10, 200619 yr Not everyone is. But the negative voices seem to typically be louder than the positive ones...when someone's angry or upset about something, they tend to get louder. Plus, the people happy with the demo are busy right now playing with it The ones I really laugh at are the folks who turn the sliders all the way up and have the stones to complain about low frame rates. You can almost hear the rimshot in the background. (-: -Ivan
August 10, 200619 yr How to change them in links? I deleted the tags, but they still showing the image.
August 10, 200619 yr Thanks for reminding me that my main purpose for using FS is to look at still views of aircraft and not for flying.SD

August 10, 200619 yr There is realy no reason to be negative, mad or dissapointed.Since there is NO competition for MS to worry about, all this vented anger is not going to do anybody any good.Fs2004 has ONE patch released in almost 4 years. There will be paywares flying out left and right as soon as FSX is released to address our every want, need and desire.
August 10, 200619 yr Something to consider is that most of us have a very well developed, very stable FS2004 world. While we all want new features, better graphics, etc - we do not want to abandon a few thousand dollars worth of addons, spend a few thousand more in either cash or man hours rebuilding a new FS world. What we really want is not a new version of FS, but an enhancement will seamlessly integrate with our existing setup. Most of us know that is impossible. So we want to be so impressed with the new product that there are no regrets about moving forward and spending all the money and time.So far the biggest negative I read is the performance - which frankly if this was a final polished demo - I'd worry about. But it was made clear this is a beta demo so I'm not concerned.I'm also ticked that nowhere in the posts I've seen and not in the readme was the time limit mentioned - it should have been empahsized. The move to DXT5 textures for the aircraft might be part of the performance issue - I'll do some tests if I ever get home from work tonight. So far I've found a lot of new things not mentioned on the threads and blogs, that I've seen - no one could have read them all.Just take the Select Aircraft window.Absolutely AMAZING effort to think outside the box - redo the way it was done in the past - make it more efficient - faster - easier to sort and organize. We'll have to learn to use the new lines in the aircraft.cfg to organize things - but that opportunity is now available.Since this is the second screen most people see and will have a huge improvement in most people getting a flight started - yet we've heard nothing about it.
August 11, 200619 yr >all this vented anger is not going to do anybody any goodexcept that they feel they can get across their anger at the development of this version of the sim.
August 11, 200619 yr If they would disable the time-limit !It's a pain to test stuff when it's game-over so quickly.Short Bug report:Enable Snow and you will see a "tunnel-effect", looks terrible. The whole snow-texture-system looks far from beeing finished.
August 11, 200619 yr Another nice feature is the ability to have your view snap and maintain a target. Right clicking and selecting an object such as a runway or airport etc and it moves to and maintains it in view. That and pressing plus and minus is a nicely smooth zoom and the mouse look is another free-ware add-on that has been implemented. All little things that should enhance the overall experience, they were listening despite all the posts to the contrary. And kudos for the map with weather reports on it. Small change but effective. I believe tdragger implemented that, thank you.Ian.
August 11, 200619 yr Author EXTREMELY Happy with the DEMO. It's working great on my system, but I had to change my joystick from the MSFF2 to the Cyborg 3D. Everything works great....only wish there wasn't a time out feature on it. Stan
