Good evening,As a long-time MSFS user and supporter I too downloaded the new demo from the MS site this evening.I read through most of the posts here earlier this day at work, waiting to get to try this myself. I saw a lot of what one might consider as rather negative feedback on the demo. So my expectations weren't that high, in fact. Now, after flying the demo for about 3 hours I can honestly say that FSX is probably the most significant update in the series. My feeling is that in this new sim some very important aspects of FS have been addressed.- The overall feeling of flight is, I think, a lot better than with FS9. What surprised me the most was the CRJ. It actually feels and flies like a jet. Ok, a bit touchy on the pitch side but since I don't know CRJ that well, that might be perfectly OK.- The visuals and the "environment experience" has been greatly enhanced. Up until now I've never felt like "being there" as much as I do with the FSX demo.- Various improvements in default views & view handling, settings manipulation and saving etc. etc. are all welcome improvements that enhance the FS "basic engine".There's a lot more. Of course there are things on the negative side as well, and the demo really seems a little rough on the edges. But I was prepared for all of that, so I don't really care. I know the final release version will be very different in this regard. I didn't have any performance surprises either, even though I'm not running the most state-of-the-art system anymore.Overall I'm very pleased with FSX. The feeling is now very different than what it was when I saw the first screenshots of FSX in the spring. If and when Microsoft continues the FS series development in this kind of "trend", we will surely see many of the features now left out from FSX in future releases. I won't go into details about what I wished most that was not included, but I think I posted my list of wishes sometime earlier this year here. Both thumbs UP for MS/ACES and I for one am really looking forward to the FSX release and countless of hours of enjoyment with it! I totally agree, while its a little rough on the edges, I think it will be a big hit! I'm getting the sort of performance I was expecting on my laptop, so by the time I get a new rig simming, will be taken to a whole new level. Thanks ACES team!

I shared a similar experience to you in performance, and came out with the same conclusions. I'm very excited about this version.

Well said, I absolutely cannot wait to get the retail version. Good job ACES.

I too share the same feelings as the original poster. Looking forward to the final version!

Does anyone know what the glide ratio of a CRJ with full flaps and zero throttle setting is?Manny

I've imported my extremely tuned A380 based on real-world flight-data and in FSX, for the first time, I see some results that never worked in FS9. Seems they have reworked the flight-model. In FS9 I had the impression that many values in the aircraft.cfg were not taken into account.

>Does anyone know what the glide ratio of a CRJ with full>flaps and zero throttle setting is?>>MannyI'm afraid I do not know that. Did you feel like the CRJ was 'floating' a bit too much?I just did the CRJ mission and greased the landing. I thought it was a slow approach (130 KIAS) but what do I know. :) I've never flown a CRJ before. I sort of felt like it was floating but I will have to try it some more before I get a feel for it. All realism sliders left is not my style, either. That will have to change. The only big iron I am that familiar with is an A320 or DC-8. DC-8-70's especially, will float if you don't get them slowed down. A320/319/318 are easier to land imo. At least the sim ones I've flown.Rhett

The first time I flew the CRJ It really wanted to float. It's definately a floater.

I also support the design decisions and result shown by the demo. I think MS/ACES really looked after the enthusiasts while still trying to increase the popularity of FS. My FPS were better than expected and I can have most sliders past half way which gives much better scenery than full sliders in FS9.Also I found all the planes floated more than FS9. But, real cessnas that I have flown, always seemed to float more in real life than in FS9 so perhaps we are seeing the results of a better FM.
