NAVTEQ to Enhance Microsoft 'Flight Simulator X'

Featured Replies

See the front page.I'm not sure if this expands on what we know already.

Well, since they're providing the same data to Google et al, I am sure that it'll be a top-notch default addition to the default FSX setup (pretty much including Ultimate Terrain), which will make a lot of VFR pilots (including me) very happy.Pat

And me. :) Wonder if it'll use data for all the countries covered by Navteq. I presume it will.

Hey guys and gals.. I saw the article and I also saw an interesting comment.. This is sad, MAT (Mothers Against Terrorists) are totally against this and are trying to get these so called Flight Simulators and Train Simulators banned. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason for ANYONE to know how to fly a Boeing 747. This is best left to professionals. We were enraged when Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 came out, the level of detail was too great, now, with this new "Flight Simulator X", this is totally unacceptable. If they wanted to modify the game as to perhaps flying a small Piper plane in a limited area (take off from an airport and fly around), that is fine, but these ultra-realistic flights are crazy. My daughter's boyfriend has the game (Flight Simulator 2004), and he showed me how he took off from Newark Airport in NJ in a United 737. The graphics and realism were just... (lets just say, they should NOT be that good). There is no need for computer gamers to have games like these.Another thing, how come all these airlines aren't suing Microsoft and regular users for using planes that depict their logo? These is logo infringement unless you have prior AUTHORIZED permission to use it, which I am sure, many don't.BAN MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR X, THIS IS A TERRORIST TOOL THAT CAN BE USED AGAISNT US.-Joyce Goldenblatt

Hahahahhaah - get a brain Mothers Against Terrorists. What a load of bull. I don't even have respect for their opponion - "ohh no if terrorist play minesweeper - they will know how to find our mines!!!!!!"

> We were enraged when Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 came out...Mothers Against Terrorists? Got a website?Trolls.

I looked up and down the web to find an email where I can send a nastygram to, but it seems that the MAT seems to have only one member: Joyce. Would have been interesting to educate her about all the incorrect facts that she has stated. At least, I would've sponsored a Prozac. Oh well. Pat

does anyone know which countries are covered with this data?and MAT is probably a made up name in a chain email going around

good point I went back there and it must have been deleted.. that's funny. any posters seen in that original post?I guess I got it right before it was deletedalso makes me wonder how these "Mother" or MAT are viewing the forums and god knows what they are thinking.. HahahaI did google but found nothing only something about mothers against draft type of thing. edit: ahh... here we go:Games will always push the available hardware to the limits and strive to be as realistic as possible... A simulator even more so.And yes, a company as big as Microsoft who has been releasing Flight Simulator for the last 20 or so years DOES have authorization to use the brand names and logos in it's sim. It even uses pilots from the above mentioned companies to test the authenticity of the flight experience and tweak it to make it more realistic.Joyce... I think you're overreacting.another post but this time by admin:I've taken the liberty of purging the news discussion here, as almost all of it is either AOL trolls or completely offtopic. sounds more like a joke whoever Joyce ishehe

I see gamedev have purged that post from their forum - rightly percieved as a troll. It's more like Mother of All Trolls than Mothers Against Terrorism. ;)

Good question - I hope it includes Australasia, South America and Africa in addition to North America & Europe.

And MAT is a subsidary of a much wider organisation called MAD (Morons Against the Discerned)! ;-)

You want to know something, the first thing that came to my mind is that I would TERRORIZE her if she had anything to do with interfering with FSX's advancements. I got into computers to someday have something like FSX 30 years ago and THAT would be enough for me to go ballistic.Carmine http://forums.avsim.net/images/wave.gifhttp://img155.imageshack.us/img155/7118/phoenixtp8mg.jpg
