Fix for jittery car traffic

Featured Replies

Hey.... I was wondering if there was a tweak to increase the refresh rate of the cars and vehicles. I'm simming at 30hz 4K. The traffic is jittery and not smooth. I had the same problem with UTLive but there is a setting for fps in there and that fixed that. Wondering if there is a tweak for the traffic in P3D? I looked in the .cfg, but didn't see anything..... thanks:)

Not that I'm aware of. Thinking about it though it can't exist because if the AI traffic were smoother there would be more load on your CPU and you wouldn't get 30Hz FPS any more. It is made jittery for a reason. Only solution I'm aware of is to up the frame-rate.

I don't know if this would help but maybe slowing down the speed might reduce traffic jitters.

I use unlimited at 4k and generally smooth.  My traffic setting is 25.

Sorry to dig out this old thread, but for those who are interested, I have found out that when limiting the fps to 30 (no matter if internally or externally), the car traffic is indeed quite jerky for some reason, which is why I think it came to attention to some. When I limit the FPS to 29 (the monitor being FreeSync compatible runs at 58 Hz in that case), the ground traffic moves as smooth as butter!  Give it a try.

Internally or via NCP?

It doesn't matter for the smoothness of car traffic if you limit to 29 FPS internally or via NCP.
