The DX10 slide?

Featured Replies

I wasn't at the press deal that the preview article came from but the last slide at the Sunday presentation at IFC Denver looked like this:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/152524.jpgThis is another one I don't think is a actual screen shot... the guy said that it is what they expect DX10 to look like and unfortunately I failed to get a shot of the previous DX9 slide.

I'm guessing that is the same slide that they showed at the press conference at E3 2006. It still looks very, very impressive. Whether this uses an awful lot of artistic licence or whether this will be pretty close to the real deal, I am certain we will be seeing some great things with FSX. Perhaps this is what they showed to Avsim as well.RojanTrojanwww.cessnasim.blogspot.com

That looks amazing :-jumpy

I remember these, and jeez is it incredible. An artist impression indeed as there is no dx10 hardware but are we in for a visual treat or what.

>An artist impression indeed as there is no dx10 hardwareIt doesn't have to be an artist's impression. Even if there is no DX10 hardware available now, it's possible to render the scene using a software renderer which implements DX10 and get the same result as if it had been rendered in hardware, even though the software renderer will be much much slower.

And it's quite likely that there are at least some experimental versions of DX10 cards available by now for testing by now to people at Microsoft, NVidia, and ATI.

Well we appreciate you being there mand being able to get us any information that you could.RH

>And it's quite likely that there are at least some>experimental versions of DX10 cards available by now for>testing by now to people at Microsoft, NVidia, and ATI.I would have thought that quite likely as well. These things don't just miraculously appear in the shops out on nowhere!

That shot is a hypothetical- It's possible, but we do not know how likely it is to get to that level of detail with current hardware. There's a lot that's POSSIBLE, but not PRACTICAL.I for one would live to see enhanced lighting- no more texture tricks, but actual rendered lights that illuminate the sufaces around in a realistic manner. In terms of environment, it's my biggest issue. Airport lights that illuminate the ground, but not aircraft parked 'under' them.I have seen some stuff that's promising- a few shots of the Cessna at dusk that have some really cool lighting effects.Tim
