May 31, 200620 yr Flight Sim AI aircraft must have a hold short point within 225 ft of the runway - and on the Rwy 21 end of KGEG has hold short points about 875 from the runway. The overrun area does not count as runway for the AI engine - http://www.flightsim2004-fanatics.com/ - scroll down to find out how to fix the problem. To match the current FAA airport diagram the runway length needs to be set to 10,001 ft in length and the position adjusted with AFCAD to set the ends at the appropriate areas.http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0605/00403AD.PDFThis will result in a too line runway - however without extensive scneery design rework of the airport - the correct runway length cannot be used.

June 2, 200620 yr I was just reading some post over on the FSPax forums and something that was said and that I replied to got me thinking: I know it's too late for it in FSX but wouldn't it be cool if in some future version of FS it actually remembered where you last were, and automatically set that is default the next time you played it. IE, suppose I do my first flight in a new version from Seattle to SFO, instead of having to save that next time you launch it's already there, wherever you left it, whatever gate you left it at.

IE, suppose I do my first flight in a new>version from Seattle to SFO, instead of having to save that>next time you launch it's already there, wherever you left it,>whatever gate you left it at.Isn't that already there (in FS9)?Saved automatically as "last flight", you could perhaps set that as your "start with this flight" ?
June 2, 200620 yr No, I think that would set you to where you left from, this is to set you where you are after the flight.
June 2, 200620 yr >No, I think that would set you to where you left from, this>is to set you where you are after the flight.I'm sorry, that dosen't make much sense to me, isn't that the same thing?
June 2, 200620 yr No what I meant was, that sets you at the departure airport, I would like a feature to set you at the destination if you follow me. Ie if I leave Seattle-Tacoma, and fly to San Francisco Intl. and park at gate A5, then next time I launch FS it would automatically have my plane parked at Gate A5 with no intervention by me. I could do it now but it would be a saved flight per se. This way would always just have you at the create a flight screen with the last aircraft already selected and the last airport you were at right down to the gate. So If you just launch it like that then you will be at Gate A5 of KSFO.However with it being at the create a flight screen you would now have the option to change planes, time/date and flight plan, and not have to change your gate/airport unless you wish to fly from somewhere else. All perfectly set up to go on to another airport or fly the return leg.
June 2, 200620 yr Thanks for the clarification.Sounds like an interesting idea. What I do is save a flight called "start" and use that as my default flight. I just have to remember to save the flight prior to exit.(Or use 'previous flight' saved-state)
June 2, 200620 yr Author Hi,I am doing that RIGHT NOW with FS2004.Get everything set how you want FS to start up from (this time). Quit and restart FS. Choose Flight/Load Flight. Find the flight named Previous Flight. Select it and check the Make this the Default box. Click OK. You will be back where you started. Now fly your flight. Quit and restart FS. You will be right where you ended your flight. Next time you quit and restart FS you will be where you ended the last time.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
June 3, 200620 yr Tom,That's a great idea for being able to start where you ended but by making it the default flight you may be creating other problems for yourself when you use the Create A Flight menu becuase many parameters are taken from the default flight.See the thread "Urban Myth?" (or something like that) in the Panels and Gauges forum for more details. It's been discussed in great detail there. If you have a way to do the same thing but not make it the default flight, it could be a nearly perfect solution.Scott / Vorlin
June 3, 200620 yr Moderator I fly many different a/c and leave 'em scattered all over the world... Before I exit a flight, I SAVE the current state as:Where_I_Left_XXX where XXX is the a/c used. None of 'em is ever marked as "default flight." My "default flight" is the same, out of the box flight with two exceptions: I moved the C172 to my own KGYY ramp space, and shut down everything so it will always load "cold and dark."This way, I can instantly load any of them at will... ;) Fr.
