Thanks for your insight in the SDK thread. I had an idea and I wanted to get it to the team ASAP... and I don't really know any other way than to put it here where you'll see it.Re: _L textures...1) Need them to be independent of the model... meaning that if a plane was not emissively mapped in the mdl, it could still have an _L texture designated for that part of the VC by designating an _L texture in the panel cfg's description of the VC window, the same way you can already change the texture from it's $ default by adding another image. If we can change the image already, why not have all planes light map-able and leave it to the designers to fabricate and designate an _L map. If no _L is designated, there will be no light.1) Need to be able to trigger each _L emissive individually via an L:var rather than all of them slaved to a light bus that gives you all or nothing (ok, there are 2 settings we can use now but you get the idea).2) Dynamically adjustable brightness determined by adjusting the V of the _L textures HSV settings (not for one color, for the entire image). This could be via dynamically adjustable attributes (which the XML guys have been screaming for) or some other external variable. Range of adjustment should be, obviously, from 0-100%. If one has the imagination to apply it creatively, then this could go way beyond simple dimmer switches. Thanks Jason, sleep while you can now because the closer the deadline gets, the less sleep you'll get! But I guess you already know this since you've done a few of these already.BTW: How does one sign up to be considered for the beta team? Is there such a sign up list?Scott / [email protected]

Rather late in the development process to start making such sweeping demands don't you think?2 years ago would have been more appropriate, and even then you should have worded them like requests instead of demands.

"Thanks for your insight in the SDK thread. I had an idea and I wanted to get it to the team ASAP... and I don't really know any other way than to put it here where you'll see it."Indeed! And again, it was worthwhile starting the thread on this subject. The benefits outweight the bruises due to lack of wisdom on my part. Let's move on with joy and great antecipation!Bless you allDito

Not really since the devlopement of the series is an on going process - don't you agree? The funny thing about forums is that people don't always write in the same manner that they speak. I know this is true of myself. Often times, conveying thoughts and opinions can come across in a manner that offends some. I suppose it's like the FDE in a virtual simulator, it mimics reality yet it is not reality - so a little bit of latitude is a good thing in forum discussions and as long as the requesting is done in a respectful manner we should read it as such................Randy J. >Rather late in the development process to start making such>sweeping demands don't you think?I would leave it to developers to decide whether it is too late or not. Also I am afraid you don't even understand what this guy is asking since it is highly technical so your comment about "sweeping" demands is ludicrous.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/for...argo_hauler.gifhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg

Fantastic idea, but considering FSX is now in beta (or so we're told) it might be a little late to see it in this release. However I can really see the benefits of this, especially in VCs for adjusting light intensity and allowing more flexibilty with the exterior fuselage lighting with things like logo and landing lights. The third party developers would probably have a field day.

You know, guys (and gals), just because FSX is frozen doesn't mean development is stopped. There will be an update to FSX, which, if they can find sufficient time, I bet will add a couple of features. And if your idea doesn't make it to FSX, it could make the cut for FS11. Keep 'em comin'!! :)Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

Thanks Jason, will do.Regarding the "demands" comment...A) It's an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea, a reasonable idea or even a realistic idea. It's an idea.:( It was expressed in terms of capabilities and potential ways they could work on the user's (developer's) end. In database design, such information from the end users is critical when designing the core system. It was expressed concisely, in a way that framed the idea in terms that I hoped would be understood well enough to paint a clear picture. It had to be to the point because those who are in a position to do something about it don't have a lot of time to be reading long forum posts and, by using the title I did, I was taking time out of Jason's day. When you take time out of a busy person's day, it's rude to *not* get to the point in a clear and succinct manner.Demands? Uh, no. The only way someone would read it that was is if they were already personally predispositioned to be defensive.'nuff said on that. Back to our regularly scheduled programming...Scott / Vorlin

No, I'm not asking for a beta test place I just want to be really nosey and see what's in it. I'm sure MS have a few copies hanging around that they don't really know what to do with. In a way I'd be helping you guys out by making it a bit tidier there! I promise I won't tell a soul about what you've done so far - well not too many anyway. :-lol
