vapour effect ?...

Hi , as we can read on SimHQ website .. http://www.simhq.com/_all/all_018b.html they notice a vapour effect on jets ...so my question is it a heat from engines (like in LOMAC )? or something else... Mike and Jason please make us clear with this...pls.brds

Sounds like a "blurry" affect that could be rendered with DirectX 10 to me. ;o)-Justin

They probably mean wingtip vortices.

Oh please, please, please let there be jet engine (and APU) exhaust "haze" that distorts the view (like LOMAC). I would love to see the jet exhaust haze get more intense depending on the engine thrust.Imagine FSX with 5.1 sound and visible jet engine exhaust, sitting on a runway in 747, cleared for takeoff, engines go from idle to take off thrust, 5.1 screams, visible exhaust gets intense, maybe a little dust (or waterspray if its wet) gets blown off the runway.... OMG unreal !!! :-jumpyPlease, please, please, this is 2006, we have DX9 and soon DX10, if you guys can add cloud shadows, great water effects, wingtip vortices and contrails surely a little jet exhaust is possible.Im begging you. PLEASE!

Which is fine for most of us. LOMAC's effect is horrible anyways.

It's possible to create a pseudo effect through the SDK's there's some already available for FS2004...I believe that haze effect is also a real frame rate hog in Lomac from what I've heard?? If memory serves correctly...

But how hard could it be for MS to include these smoke effects in FSX?Just trigger "smoke" effects files based on engine thrust (ie trigger different files at 10%, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100%) and APU too (just on/off).Forget about the lomac style "haze" if it's too hard and a FPS hog... Id just be happy with these smoke effects as standard in FSX. It seems pretty easy so maybe its already in FSX?I guess if the FSX SDK makes it possible then it will be added by 3rd party. PixelPoke... would this be possible with the FSX SDK?

Did you ever see a jet taking off in the rain? The exhaust stream goes back maybe twice the length of the AC. What a pic!I doubt we'll see it in FS anytime soon though.Mike.

It's eyecandy which I really don't care about - I would rather see the gameplay being fixed. The graphics can wait until FS XI.

You might want to take a look at the pseudo haze effect I added in to the Top Gun Tomcats and effects upgrade that I posted here and at flightsim.com don't forget to download the update...Note: Some of the textures for the tomcats appear to be in the wrong format and has been known to crash FS, if that happens just run imagetool.exe available through the SDK's and convert them to 32 bit or DXT3... Whichever it is I can't recall...
