The American accents of the ATC tower controllers and AI pilots do not bother me. I am more concerned with them being clear and precise. Of course, there are one or two annoying issues.....like the lady who pronounces "Bombardier" as "BOMBA-DEER"

We had the same issue in Radar Contact when one unnamed controller pronounced Malaga as Ma Lager as in lager and lime. 😁

Hate to sound like a Debbie-Downer, but really I'd rather just use the default ATC voice. I just really don't like the robotic versions.

There is no doubt that the clarity and speech of the voices are vitally important. They can likely be improved over what is likely an early beta example. I use Zabbaware TTS software with a couple of AT&T voices that sound very good. Yes I can tell they are not real voices, but they are close to "natural" and I can understand them fine.

I see the main goal/purpose of the ATC database update as, keeping agent names current. New airports, airlines,  ATC facility, or any other monthly changes, aren't a problem when FSAerodata uses TTS voices. But if real voices are used (like with default FSX) then were back to being stuck with many outdated or absent names. I'm unsure how often the EditVoicePack data is updated.

I don't think there is any company that can (long or short-term) call all the voice actors back in for every AIRAC that has a change, or for every new airline, etc., so to expect real voices is not practical in keeping "current".

Decent voices but carp* instructions. Or human voices created with a tight budget and good quality instructions. I know which I prefer. Try Radar Contact which is now free. Go to the RC Forum for the download if you want to be controlled correctly. I recorded my voice set and can confirm I am not a robot.

I’d want to talk to an Asian ground controller, tower controller, radar controller and centre controller who eventually become Indian/Pakistani, Persian, Turkish, Eastern European, German, Dutch and then British. And she/he would stay British all the way down to the guy who gives me the gate assignment at Gatwick.

PF3 did it Ben. And did it well.

Yes out of all of them PF3 made the best stab at voice sets that add a decent level of realism, I quite agree. But the last time I used it, admittedly a while ago, it was a faff to set up and for every successful flight there were more that ended up in a shambles. The default ATC is poor, but its usability cannot be beaten.

I am happy with PF3 - you dont have to switch frequencies so often. Vectors to final makes sense (I dont use sids and stars. No more "go into mountaing" (ok, once 🙂 ). But yes - voices are better in default ATC. But since I have bought PF3 I dont use default ATC.
