Windows 10 Random "PAUSE" ???

Something is wrong with your system if it's checking that much. Mine checks once a day at the most and sometimes only once every few days.

This is probably accurate for my system as well. I was just making a joke about how often it seems to be checking.

Anyway, I have decided to turn the pause on task switch back "on" to try and trouble shoot anything that may be running..   So far I have done two hour long flights and not paused yet, so maybe its fixed anyway, but I will keep looking out for it.

On the taskbar, choose Task Manager from the menu. The processes List can show an app rises to the top momentarily as it uses the CPU. So you may see what is popping into focus that way.

Wow, 5 posts because you don't seem to understand what I mean by "semantics"! I used semantics to indicate that it doesn't matter to the user whether the problem is actually solved or whether it just appears, in all respects, to be solved. The end result to the user is the same.

Wow! 5 posts to trying convince me you don't understand that I am not unhappy with that. I am.

However as I said, I don't want to see Fixed just cos you are happy with a work around on your PC you are not the only PC user around looking for answers.

I want to see "fixed" when it means "fixed", so can't you just be grateful that there are folk around giving help which is the main point of my posts in the first place until you took the argumentative approach to it. So I have to defend my posts in that respect.

Did you work out what took focus or have you still no clue?

Another idea is that some addon you installed takes focus.

For example a typical traffic app or other kind of addon might pop up a window to show it is loading.

Imagine in a mangled system setup, that might become, for argument's sake, a popup that keeps coming up but doesn't quite make 'visible'. Or it is there for too short a time.

It could be some error in the install of a system causes an addon program to check and re-check something, periodically taking focus that way.

I don't know enough from the description of the problem, we may not see a sudden background app rise in the Task Manager List. It could be that anyone with this type of issue needs to uncheck some addons to see if there's a difference

As I always say, my posts are for all comers looking for answers, including my chums, not in particular for the OP.

I find Event Viewer useful, also.

But my posts are only to help my self esteem.

From time to time there have been addons that cause a popup or take focus when they should not. So those with that problem can find it by checking in the way I described by eliminating addons.

If it's a system program or tooltray app these are more tricky to look for, that's where task manager can help.

If the user is not too confident with that then the work around to keep running when there is a task switch works as th OP found. It's not some miraculous fix he's using, but If it's OK with them it's OK with me.

I usually use my own software tools to track these kinds of problems, they are easy to solve.

On the flip side. Quite often this means something else is happening that is not fixed.

If it's an addon not finishing its setting or something it can't complete, then somewhere in the sim it can go wrong or will be going wrong.

So we get notified of random problems in some sim or other and when we investigate the clue was already evident, but ignored.

Thanks for the insight Steve. I have had little time to investigate this further as work has been crazy.. but I will get a chance this weekend to look into it. I run a tight ship so to speak on my system, so yes fixing it rather then masking it is a priority.

OK, so I looked into the issue more this weekend. I connected a second monitor to watch task manager and a few other things to monitor my system as I flew around dense scenery. The pause issue never occurred once. However something is slowing my system severely and effecting the sound causing severe stutters. But not really showing in task manager. I still need to update my sig, but I did build the system right as the Z390 boards came out, so I figure maybe there is probably better updated drivers by now....  Yep... New BIOS and then updated windows to 1903 and all the drivers needed updated after that. Anyway long story short, I'm not sure which one fixed it or which one caused it to begin with, but I'm glad to say my new computer is running as it should, like new. So like people always say, update your drivers.
