Add-ons: to buy or not to buy...?

Recommended Posts

Guest tmloser

I recently bought a few add-ons (like the Reality-XP Sandel SN3308 and one volume of BirdsEyeView). I was also considering getting Radar Contact 4. But... is that wise...? Will all the add-ons be useless as soon as FS X is released? I know a lot of companies who make planes will try to make them compatible, but how about these kind of add-ons? I also have Active Camera, FS Passengers...The thing is that I don't know what FS X will bring when it comes to ATC or VC-views. RC 4 and Active Camera might still be usefull and better, but ONLY, of course, if they will work with FS X! On the other hand, FS X ATC might be SO GOOD that it blows RC4 out of the sky! Who knows?!? I don't...So, what's your advice when it comes to buying add-ons...? Okay, I know FS X is still al long time away, but then again, I really don't want to spend 50 bucks or more for just a few months: I don't fly THAT often, so... And I can use the money because I want to buy a new computer as soon as Vista and FS X are released! ;)I already decided not to buy anymore BEV-volumes, because the default FS X scenery looks just as good (with buildings lined up with the roads, etc. BEV should have been released a few years ago...) And BTW it is far too expensive when you add all volumes up...

Of course I can't say what will work and what won't, since it's not our stuff. I will say, though, that a great many developers will have the chance to test their add-ons with FSX and make any needed adjustments before it is released.Even so, FSX is still some time off. Doubtless the add-ons you have or might buy in the next few months will give you loads of enjoyment in that time. What's more, no one says you have to uninstall FS2004 when FSX comes out. What I'm saying is, relax and get what you think you'll enjoy and wait to see how it goes with FSX.

I would definatley recommend getting RC4. For the time left with FS9 its a must have addon (and its now been updated for better realism), but as soon as FSX is out, the folk behind it will work to ensure it is compatible i'm sure. They have with previous versions.

>Another good reason to get them now, is for us, those>upgrades will be free!! I hope you scenery/airportrs prepare for what FSX offers and design your current scenery/airport with that in mind. So by "upgrade" I don't mean just to make the airport "work" in FSX but also getting full scenery resolution capability. So if the current textures are limited to say 256x256 but FSX textures will offer say 1024x1024 you will take advantage of this in your free airport upgrade.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg

That's pretty subjective and depends on your system, however, I think you'll find that it's more than ok.

Your specs don't mean anything to me. Sorry if I sound rude. I have a really good system, and some things are just going to eat performance to some extent.Anything that you "add" to the default sim will detract from performance. That's a fact. For me I can fly just fine at anything about 10fps. Some people wont' be happy if they're getting below 50fps. It's all about the overall smoothness. What I'm saying is, to be honest, you have to try it. We take every measure to save polys where possible. That's one reason why it takes us a lot longer to produce stuff. LCY was done quite some time ago and to this date, I don't think we had any complaints from it or any of our sceneries for that matter.I know this may sound like a vague answer, but, you know how it goes. I'm not going to blow smoke at you. If you can run other add-ons then you can run ours.Good luck and defiantely thank you for considering us. We apprecitate it very much. We are continuing to have an unbelievable good run with these scneries.
