How is the AirFoilLabs Cessna 172SP Skyhawk ?

Featured Replies

Is it the best Cessna 172 available for XP 11 ?

How does it compare to the FSX A2A C172 ? Would be interesting to hear from someone who have used both ?

I have watched this clip and got impressed. The main thing that caught my interest was that he praised the flight model. Then I searched the support forum for this plane and saw threads by a user that was a real C172 pilot. He claimed the opposite was true and that was since the last update of the plane ?! That makes me hesitate. The most important thing for me is that the plane flies as realistic as possible.

I'd say the simcoders and standard c172! I own both and I must say that I got really fed up with airfoillabs because there updates are very sparse and the model has fps for breakfast.

It is a pretty good plane but I like the simcoders c172 better because of much better fps in VR.

Edit: I just see a new update for airfoillabs!!

I don't use VR. Does this still mean that the airfoillab has fps for breakfast ?

When I flew it often it did. It took like 15 fps extra. Normally I had 40 fps and with the airfoillabs I had 25 or so.

But to be honest it is a very good plane. Feels very alive, shaking, engine sounds are great and it's not as easy as many default planes.

I see

Current version: XP11: 1.6  (June 4th 2019)

is there a recent version above this ?

No that is the latest version

I think it seem that simcoder is best for me even though AFL seem to have a longer list of features but

A drop of 15 fps is serious and
the support forum has posts that claim faulty flymodel by real Cessna pilots

Regarding performance I see that AFL has LO Res and High Res versions. Which one did you use ?

Go for the default 172 with the REP pack.   The Airfoil labs is great but the FPS loss is not worth it
