GPS Help..theres gotta be a way.

Featured Replies

OK, So im a sucker for the Tristar so I jumped on the Captainsim L1011 (yeah yeah I know..LOL)

Tried to add the Flight 1 GTN 750 to it, and it show up and works fine but WILL NOT follow the GPS route no matter what combinations of settings I use. If this thing will follow the INS in FMS mode, theres gotta be a way in the CFG to make it follow even just a standard gps route. Any Help on this would be seriously appreciated!!! Bert...master of adding GTN to aircraft...any ideas?

Don't have the product so this is just a guess but doesn't CS provide some sort of configurator for the L1011? Perhaps you can disable the onboard GPS somehow. You also might t ry commenting out the relevant gauge lines in the panel.cfg (after a proper backup, of course)

I do not have this airplane.. but first of all GTN + FMC typically does not work..

So, why try to install a GTN into an airliner in the first place?

Now.. if you can tinker with the autopilot code, you may be able to make it work.

Expecting it to work "out of the box" is a stretch though IMHO..

Nope, no configurator.

Not expecting it to work out of the box at all.

There isnt an FMC..its an INS, which is frankly a PITA to sit there and find and input coordinates for every single waypoint.

As far as a gtn in an airliner...its captainsim..lol..realism isnt going to be pmdg or anything. And with the lack of a proper airliner fmc and the choice of the stock gps or the GTN..why not..haha

Point is, i guess i would need to figure out what line of code determines if it follows the INS or a GPS. Any ideas on what to look for in particular in the cfg?

Ok so ive been fooling around with this for a while now to no avail. Is there ANY way i can make this plane follow the standard gps?? Im really HATING this INS. It will not let you intersect and fly a course without physically Crossing that way point unlike the gps plan where you can just join the line and follow...any help getting rid of this INS in favor of a gps would be helpfull PLEASE! This thing is buggy as hell!

The Flight1 GTN has a choice of two modes... follow the NAV course or the HDG course.

The autopilot in the Tristar likely has a NAV and a HDG mode..

Have you tried them both?

Bert

I don't have the aircraft, but if you can find an AP setting to follow the NAV radio, you can map a key press to "Nav 1/GPS (toggle)". Even if you can't get it is follow NAV1, maybe you can also map a key press to "Autopilot NAV 1 hold (on/off)"

So AP on, NAV1 hold, toggle to GPS.
