Yeah guys, I said it.  I omitted the word "hardware" in front of IPD adjustment, assuming most  already knew that the Rift-S only provides a software IPD adjustment and how important a mechanical adjustment can be for some users.  

Read the many articles on the internet regarding the downside of the lack of HW IPD (including the excellent blog by Palmer L)  and how it throws things off for SOME of us, and you'll understand why I sent it back and will stick with the CV-1 for now.  To me, the visuals in the S were on par, but not better than, the CV-1 especially when oversampled.  There is just nowhere near $400 worth of value in moving from the CV1 to the S.   

No, there wasn't any defect in the unit, and yes, everything was set up correctly.   BUT if you are happy with the Rift-S, then I am glad ....enjoy!  

 

(ps, has anyone tried the PiMax ??  😉
