September 21, 20196 yr I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti0 video card. Every time I start one of my simulators I get a message that my display will improved if I set the resolution to 2560x1440. I have my displays set to 1920x1200 because these tired old eyes have a hard time reading the tiny IACO airport codes on the GPS and MFD map at 2560x1440. So I set my resolution at 1920x1200 to make them easier to read. Is there any way I can turn off the annoying notice that comes up every time I start a simulator to change to 2560x1440. Even eagle eyes need help as they age. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
September 21, 20196 yr Moderator just google " Disable optimal resolution check" and you'll get a bunch of methods. One of them might work on your system. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
September 22, 20196 yr Author None of them worked Vic. I suspect it's somewhere in the nVidia folder but I'm afraid to touch anything in there. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
September 22, 20196 yr Hello Noel, instead, you can leave the resolution at 2560 x 1440 and change the size of everything to suit your eyes. Right click on the empty screen and select Display Settings. You will then see Scale and Layout. Set it to a larger percentage and see if that helps. I personally use 150% on my screen but you can go all the way up to 225%. Edited September 22, 20196 yr by Reader
September 22, 20196 yr Moderator With that in mind Noel, try holding down the CTRL key and moving the mouse wheel to increase sizes. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
September 23, 20196 yr Author I don't need to change the size of everything, just the size of the GPS map display. I like everything at 1900x1200. I can read everything. The problem isn't the size of the display, it's the annoying suggestion that I set it to 2560x1440 every time I start the simulator. It's not a big thing really. It's just an annoyance I'd like to get rid of. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
September 23, 20196 yr Hello Noel, I will probably regret asking this. If the problem is not the size of the display at 2560x1440, why would you change it?
September 23, 20196 yr Author The problem is not the size of the display itself, the problem is the size of the GPS display. At 2560x1440 I cannot read the IACO airport codes on the GPS display. They are too small. At 1900x1200 I can easily read the GPS display. But if I don't have the display set to 2560x1440 I get the annoying message that I should set the display to 2560x1440. That's probably true for most people, but not for me (85 years old, glaucoma, cataract surgery). I need the GPS readable for me. As far as the sim is concerned it's just right for me. What I want is a way to stop that notice coming up every time I start my simulator. It's annoying. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
September 23, 20196 yr Moderator Pop up the GPS and then right-click on it. Choose "Undock" and then grab the lower right corner and enlarge the display to your desire. You could also edit each panel.cfg file to resize the GPS to whatever size you wish. You'd have to do this for each aircraft's panel.cfg of course. window_size= 0.340, 0.260 (this is an example) 50% larger would be: window_size= 0.510, 0.390 Fr. September 23, 20196 yr I use a second monitor, and drag the GPS over there after I pop it up. That way I can basically run the GPS full screen on the second monitor. You can pick up a good 15" monitor at your local thrift store quite cheap. Call me if you need help setting it up. Sue
September 24, 20196 yr Author Thanks guys, but the way I have my panel set up now is just right for me. I'll live with the annoyance of the message telling me to change to 2560x1440 when I start the simulator in lieu of changing my panel. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
