For the ks https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/8823/msi-z390-gaming-edge-ac-intel-motherboard-review/index10.html It's got a decent VRM, but says you need to make sure theres good airflow over the VRM area. Whether it will work for the KS, i am not so sure, but for the stock 9900K, definitely. Yes, gimmick to some degree in most cases, but with the 9900KS, which is expected to have a much higher TDP (33% higher than 9900K), it's going to run hotter, and will probably require the highest end boards to run without throttling. Not so 9900KS has a higher power draw but runs all 8 cores and threads at 5ghz at 42-45deg, a 9900K boost on one core OC all cores will run hot at 5ghz all cores, this is why MB are going to need a BIOS update to run this CPU with the power draw. September 24, 20196 yr no problem to run a 9900ks on asus rog z370 rog mobos , ex my apex z370 have support for it. today i run a 9900k at 5.4ghz ht on all cores sync for the sim ht off 5.5 or 5.6 profile all cores sync. the diff is slightly higher vcore on the 5.6 profile 1.44v no throttling at all the apex was built for extreme oc , strong vrm. have tested one 9900ks ES on it , but that sample was a was not as good my 9900k. its more like with the 8086 vs 8700k if you have a very good sample of 8700k clock the same or higher Edited September 24, 20196 yr by westman http://
September 24, 20196 yr 9900KS is a binned chip hand picked base clock 4ghz not 3.6ghz, Der8baur will have one soon I suspect next month as soon as the NDA drops. Raymond Fry.

September 24, 20196 yr Der8baur uses the retail version of the CPU and often not just one to give a base line that`s why he is so popular, also AMD products. Did you test the ES on the present MB in your CPU-z setup as the KS will not work on that board and no plans to upgrade the BIOS only the z390, so no test have been run as yet in the real world test on a z370, if you have Der8baur would be interested. PLEASE DELETE... made a hybrid cooling, water chiller and custom water cooling in the same package , can start with normal watercooling if a need more cooling a start the chiller mode, that start the chiller and bypass the radiator via a shunt ventil and shut down the raditor fans all automatic when the chiller have cooled down the water to the temp i set have differnt profiles from undervolting @4.7ghz to allout 5.6ghz chiller profile that i load from windows. all depending what a shall do , no need to run the chiller when surfing on the webb.
