FSX multiplayer is great!

Featured Replies

Not sure how many have tried the multiplayer (there is never many people online in the beta)... but it is just great.Especially the following :-* Super smooth, no stutters* Up to 99 players in a session - Good for fly-ins, but why limit to just 99? I think 999 would be better :)* Multiple controllers are supported at multiple airports! Again, good for fly-ins.* Great voice quality.Impressive. :-jumpyI wonder if the SimConnect SDK can be used whilst in a MP session. I would assume so. Hopefully ACES will expose MP functions to SimConnect SDK. For example, would be nice to be able to padlock the camera to the nearest player (when flying formation). In anycase, just great. Wonder how many people will be online when FSX goes gold. Hundreds maybe!

I have the Beta FSX but I can't see anything in regards to multiplayer, is this because I don't have the activation key?

have you tried connecting to Vatsim via SquawkBox?can you still see cars on the roads in Vatsim, is there still ground vehicles in Vatsim in FSX?

I guess so. I was lucky and got into the FilePlanet beta, so I got the key. That probably explains why there's not much action on MP at the moment, only the beta's with activation code can see the MP tab.Let me assure you... its just fantastic. I think most people will be very very happy the the new MP in FSX.Previously I think TDragger stated the MP is limited to only 16 users, but it the beta i have its limited to 99 users! This is going to mean some nice and busy MP action. Also the fact that you can have multiple people working towers and ground control at multiple airports is going to be great too.Imagine some of these scenerios:-* A big fly-in (99 users arriving/departing) into a major airport. One controller working approach, one working tower, one working ground, one working departure. And 95 aircraft on ground or in air. Mayhem! but fun :) * Battle of Britain - One British controller at Biggin Hill, one German controller in France. German team launches bombers and fighter escorts, British team scramble their Spitfires and Hurricanes.* Carrier ops. One launch controller, one approach controller, lots of miltary aircraft landing, departing. Excellent!FSX MP absolutely ROCKS! :-jumpy

I dont think SquawkBox is working for FSX yet... Is it?Though I have not tried MP with road traffic, I imagine it would still be visible (as would the other traffic ie boat, airport ground traffic?)I would need to check it... I'll post what I find.

Great Imagination!It

Additionally,Have you ever seen the "Virtual Thunderbirds" videos? They are shot using LOMAC, because that program had a multiplayer mode which provided enhanced fideltiy for formation flying.FSX seems to have this level of fidelity in it's multiplayer mode now, unlike the jumpy mess that all previous versions had.Imagine a 6-ship F-16 demonstration... all in MSFS.Sit on the sidelines and watch the display from the tower... from the tarmac... from the AIR for that matter. And if this fidelity extends into all modes of FSX multiplayer, what a boon it will be for the VATSIM world too!-Greg

Maybe they should allow more FP subscribers into the beta to load up and stress test the multiplayer system. ;)

ACES has stated that there will be no ground vehicles at the airport if MP is active...dumb move IMO.

Untrained ATC (FSX) instead of Trained (VATSIM) ones maybe.>>* Super smooth, no stutters>>* Up to 99 players in a session - Good for fly-ins, but why>>limit to just 99? How does FSX multiplayer deal with 3rd part aircraft? In FS2004 i saw a cessna 172 each time I hadn't downloaded the plane myself? Will I still see the wrong plane when I haven't got the 3rd party plane?-Kinetic

>ACES has stated that there will be no ground vehicles at the>airport if MP is active...dumb move IMO.What they actually said was "The airport vehicles and other living world elements are not enabled by default. It will be up to the developers of the multiplayer client software to include it if they wish..." or words to that effect. So instead of complaining about how dumb MS is, maybe you should lobby VATSIM to include support for the features you want to see. Nick

I have red FSX MP would also allow to fly in pilot/co-pilot fashion. Something FSNet already acheived with FS9. Would someone know if it's possible to acheive this in FSX beta as it stands now?Hugo

>>* Carrier ops. One launch controller, one approach>controller, lots of miltary aircraft landing, departing. >Excellent!>You guys would be doing your MP session with carrier ops in your F-14's, EA-6's, and E-2's.......and then I would come along and break up your party, landing on the carrier puttering along in my Cessna 172. :)Would I get booted for such sacriledge?? :)RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc.
