Fixed.

Sorry, but this is just another pointless poll which has absolutely nothing, specifically, to do with the new sim - it could equally apply to any sim. It should be in the VR forum.

i would rather have mixed reality headsets that permitted the use of full cockpit hardware and...gasp...the ability to write down an ATC clearance.

Any sim? Who is talking about other sims anymore? Of course we are talking about MSFT 2020.

Poll could also have asked if some found both types of yokes equally useful, depending on the situation. For instance, I find physical yokes more familiar because I have had access to them forever, but I find virtual yokes very intriguing for their evolving promise of seamless virtual immersion.

I don't let the past be a barrier, or prejudice me from appreciating the importance (or promise) of the future, and I don't let the future erase a still useful past.

In other words, I like both.

I'm glad that this thread got moved from the MSFS2020 forum to the VR forum, where it clearly belongs.  Among other reasons, that might avoid some of the noise from the irrational faction of the anti-VR folks.

Most polls should have a "None of the above" option.  Then I could vote in this one.

I don't currently own VR hardware, but I'm pro-VR.

I suspect that I'd always want hardware for rudder pedals and joystick.  (At the risk of sounding pedantic, the poll should have said "yoke/joystick".)  But (similar to HiFlyer's case for yokes), for throttles (and mixture and propellers), which vary aircraft-to-aircraft far more than the other controls, I might decide that VR is better in some cases than having real hardware which might be badly matched to the currently simulated aircraft.

So, to me, this poll remains just another that (sadly) offers no real insight.

And I will never reply to an Avsim poll ever again, on any subject.

I didn't intend to make a poll, but couldn't delete my original post so just created a poll. I think with a working cockpit where you don't have to point lasers could be good. Currently I fly almost exclusively IFR because there isn't much to look at since I don't have a 180 degree view. In VR with proper force feedback I will probably fly more VFR than IFR. I think in the end I will either go full VR where I can fly a bunch of different planes with all the proper contols...or go with a home build for a single aircraft.

If you truly mean "reply to" and not "vote in", then that's a shame.  I find the discussion around some of these polls (even the silly and/or ill-designed ones) quite interesting and sometimes insightful.  That's one of the reasons why I said this, in the now-(rightfully-)deleted "How many people currently use VR?" thread/poll:

Quote

Suggesting that comments in a poll be disallowed is silly.  It's so difficult for a poll's options to cover all people's situations that an explanatory comment is frequently useful, necessary, and/or enlightening.

But, I won't 2nd-guess your choice to abstain in the future.  I'll just miss your potentially insightful comments. :sedih:

Apologies, I misspoke.

I meant I will certainly no longer vote, but I also admit I am feeling "a certain sort of way" about replying in polls either.

That should not be surprising. In the last few days polls about vr were instantly invaded by people apparently keen to disrupt, delegitimize, and generally heckle an opinion they disliked.

Those same people are now having polls on subjects they feel strongly about, and those are going smoothly, because the reverse is not happening.

I could participate in those, but frankly as a point of civility, I would never want to catch myself even accidently behaving like those people, and don't wish to be baited or tempted to do so. (I would be pretty disappointed with myself later)

Perhaps I will get over it, but at least for now, I feel like I never want to see another Avsim poll in my life.
