September 11, 200619 yr Would someone list all the missions (50?) and maybe a short desciption of them. I know it's a trivial job for you with the betas to test them out :-) but for us without the beta, it would we nice to know what to look forward to.I was very pessimistic when I first heard about the missions, thinking that now they really had turned MS from being a simulator into a game, but from the responses from those who have tried them, it sounds like they're adding to the simming experience. And are they all with realistic atc as in the jet mission at St.Maarten from the demo?Falcon

You can play all you want and ignore the fact that the "missions" button is even there. It doesn't unlock any extra content or do anything other than give you some recognition in your logbook. That being said, they are very well made and very fun. I did the jet truck race three times before I got lucky and won. I'm even going through the basic tutorial ones, and having fun flying the ultralight through floating gates. I can wait to get more into them. They have tutorials that teach the basics of flying in the sim, some fun flights that just involve flying someplace cool with some nice narration and put in a cool setting, to airline flights like the one from the demo, and fun challenges like landing on the moving bus, racing the jet truck, flying through hoops, etc. It's really nice, as I often fly places with an imaginary purpose, and these missions make that purpose more tangible, whether it is taking supplies to the base-camp in the mountains or doing a fly-in with a friend. In my opinion, it is a welcome addition that adds another layer of depth to the game.
September 11, 200619 yr Also-many of them have "surprises"-unexpected events that occur-and choices that can/have to be made. The reality ones are just incredible-an instrument flight into a mountain strip in Alaska to minimums in snow with several emergencies happening (don't want to give them away). I was sweating as much as some real emergencies I have had-and it really duplicated the real feeling when things start going sour.So yes-missions-fantastic!-ability to have either incredible "fun" or incredible "realism" as never seen on the sim before.I can't wait till people start creating and uploading missions-I have a feeling that will be a good part of my future sim time.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

September 11, 200619 yr Also, these missions add awards to your pilot records along with your normal flying:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/156198.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/156199.jpg
September 11, 200619 yr Man, I was all proud of my "100 Landings" badge, and you've gone and doubled that.
September 11, 200619 yr Is the Flying Lessons still in the game? Don't see the menu like FS9 in the screen shots posted above.
September 11, 200619 yr Is the Flying Lessons still in the game? Don't see the menu like FS9 in the screen shots posted above.Yes, they are located at Learning Center / Lessons. The missions are really well thought out and are very enjoyable. Bernard
September 11, 200619 yr Thanks a lot for the pictures, looks like it's gonna be fun after all and add another dimension to flightsimming. It's also mentioned that people can create new missions, is the mission editor a GUI or do we need to know something about programming?Falcon
September 11, 200619 yr Something I have been very curious about:Is it possible to substitute aircraft in a mission, or with the mission editor, or is each mission aircraft specific?
September 11, 200619 yr Yes, you can! There is a box to check! Then you can use whatever aircraft you want! But, there is a catch: you won't get the awards for fulfilling the mission! I think the mission is regarded as successful though! Those missions are really great! Made in a professional way. They really attracts your fantasy and imagination as they seem to be seriously planned and kept in a high standard all the way through! Some are just for fun, some are really tough and will need all of your pilot skills! Other are for education: I even found that flying a helicopter was funny! I never liked flying those in FS9, but here they seem to have much better flying caracteristics!Haraldh
September 12, 200619 yr You know what I am REALLY disappointed about as far as those Lessons go? They STILL do not have any subtitles. I LOVED the missions because they all have subtitles... and I wanted to do the lessons too. I am hard of hearing, and I barely got my private pilot license, although I am restricted out of controlled spaces... in other words, I can't hear speech well enough. I just wish they wouldve included subtitles this time around for the lessons. Its all good though... the missions more than make up for it!
September 12, 200619 yr I can't wait to try these. As it's been mentioned, folks will write free/pay-ware missions. For me, among the thousands of possibilities, I'd love to seesome like these:- Formation flying (air show) with the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels Starting with basic maneuvers to air show quality demonstrations.- Just about any motion picture flight challenges. Some that come to mind: Flight of the Phoenix Apollo 13 (now that we can fly into space) Memphis Bell Pearl Harbor Spirit of St. Louis Strategic Air Command Air Force One Top Gun The Great Waldo Pepper Airport .... I know there are tons I'm forgetting- Forest fire fighting- Coast Guard rescue missions- California police helicopter - spotlight the criminal from the air- SR-71/U2 Spy planes, snap pics for intelligenceJerryG
September 12, 200619 yr Author I'm with Falcon, I echo his question as welldoes the mission editor have a GUI on the front end? or is this going to be a difficult programming-C++ esque style??thanksciao!Brian S Ciao!
