September 12, 200619 yr The latest ATI catalyst requires Net.Framework 2.What's the difference between 1 and 2?I have version 1 installed, does it need to be uninstalled? If so, how? Thanks.Abe
September 12, 200619 yr No need to uninstall - in fact, MS designed 1 and 2 to be separate programs so you wouldn't have to mess with things like that..Net 2.0 is a more advanced, more robust, improved version of the .Net programming language. Install 2.0 and enjoy the drivers!-Greg
September 13, 200619 yr Thanks Greg.I was trying to save some extra space on my hard drive.Framework 1.1.4322 has 35.4 megsFramework 2.0.5072 has 87.5 megsOh, well, anything for enhancement!!Abe
September 13, 200619 yr I just installed the new .Net 3.0 because I am having problems with any Cat drivers over 6.0 slowing down the FS9 interface - thought it might help. But, just a heads up that since that download, I've found mscorsvw.exe consuming large cpu cycles. Evidently this service should run temporaily to precompile .Net assemblies and shutdown, but I've read of problems with it running forever, should anyone want to go down that road. Unfortunately, it didn't help the UI lag I get with the newer Cat. drivers. I also wonder why everytime I install an ATI driver it re-starts indexing service on my Windows C: drive?? Anyone with an explanation?Thank, Kendall Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. Aorus 650 Elite V2.0/32GB GSkill Trident 6000-CL30/Nvidia 1080 Ti./Seasonic Focus 1200W PSU.

Anyone with an explanation? It's because the ATI control center is a big piece of useless bloatware which is:a) ugly :( slow as h3llc) buggyI really don't understand the point of this "control center". It takes some 300MB of space (just seen that on my Vista RC1 box after installing the ATI beta drivers) and takes forever to start. On XP, I simply don't use it. ATI Tray tools are ~2 MB in size and give access to all the "official" and some advanced or hidden options (lots more than the control center).Their hardware is ok, the drivers are good but I definately don't want to meet that guy who invented this .NET based control center. Really, the old display properties applet was all we needed to customize the driver settings and it took 1/100 of the space and appeared instantly. As for the service running amok - you can disable it if you don't run a lot of .NET applications. That service is supposed to optimize performance of .NET applications, unfortunately it un-optimizes performance of non-.NET applications at the same time.Alex

September 13, 200619 yr I should have mentioned that I don't use the control center, I'm with you and only use Ati Tray Tools. I tried the .Net 3.0 because I get this lag in FS9 user interace with any cat driver over 6.0. I've read that .Net is only supposed to affect the CCC, but gave it a go anyway. It has seemed to help............ slightly. Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. Aorus 650 Elite V2.0/32GB GSkill Trident 6000-CL30/Nvidia 1080 Ti./Seasonic Focus 1200W PSU.
September 14, 200619 yr Actually, Ajax is the name of a flush toilet invented by Sir John Harrington in 1596 for use by Elizabeth I.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. September 14, 200619 yr Of course .Net isn't a programming lanaguage, its the framework and runtime. The programming langauages are c#, j#, vb etc etc
