FSX Addon: Orlando International Airport

How come what?It doesn't appear that this one is ready yet.

>How come what?>>It doesn't appear that this one is ready yet.I meant to find out if the 3rd party developers and sceneries designers already got the necessary tools (SDK?) to work on the not-yet released version of FS: FSX? If the answer is YES then we could see many ready FSX addons very soon.dito

Yes there are beta versions of most of the tools out and I and others have been playing around with them so my guess is that once the final tools are out that it should not be too long before the Flight Simming public will start to see some add-ons. Things like panels for aircraft might take a little longer(a lot more things to get right that say scenery or non animated objects). But even with scenery objects like buildings we will now have many more options for things like bump mapping, opacity mapping etc.So hold on and the development community will be creating all sorts of goodies for you to add to FsX. Dan Martin Team Flight Ontario.

According to what I have been reading from other vendors (Justin Tyme, Alan Kriesman), the SDK is not ready yet and has not been distributed. Each of them were under NDA, so I believe they were in contact with ACES pre-beta. Alan mentioned it was only just recently that FS9 scenery was able to work in FSX. It is a little early, I would say, to start advertising "native FSX" scenery at this point. Pure speculation on my part on my part though. Here's a good post for readin'http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=18424Justin Tyme also has some comments on his FSX forum atwww.fsgenesis.netThomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

Hi,The BGLComp SDK and the Terrain SDK have been released (at least in a beta version) in the public beta from fileplanet. However, the "Scenery SDK" (if there is to be one) has not been released yet to my knowledge. This would describe the new FSX scenery features. Also, the MakeMDL SDK has been released in the beta, but the "Aircraft Construction SDK" has not. This would describe how to incorporate the FSX aircraft features. Also, only aircraft construction tools for Max8 has been released; GMAX tools are supposed to come later.Take care,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

And the Modeling sdk and plugin for Max 8 is also in beta(not in the public release however as it was not included by mistake)Dan Martin

default ground textures, jetways, etc. and they charge that much? are you kidding me?CFS3 take a seat, FSX is now the new king of overhype and too many problems to make it a really true quality package

I think Cloud9's KMCO is very clever and appropriate. Yes, it is a compromise combination of native FSX objects which I happen to like very much and some of their own programming. And yes, the texture coloring is somewhat out of sync with my new surrounding FSGenesis N.American mesh, but overall, I'd rather see this kind of product than all the hairpulling and kevetching that is going on right now in the scenery developing companies that have produced, to date, nothing but long, extended complaints and explanations. Yes, they want to be able to produce detail of the "real" airport right down to the same exact jetway structures and all, but that is not possible right now is it! Thank you Cloud9. I can live with this very nicely.Randy Jura, KPDX

Hello,I downloaded and installed the product - intended to buy it. However, The addon manager that it installs blew up my system - meaning that the FSX would no longer load. I use the GOFLIGHT module that FSX also loads and it works fine. After I uninstalled the product I still had to manually remove the ADDON module boot from the DLL file.I don't think the comunity is ready for the addons just yet.Cheers,Ron Sagel

"And yes, the texture coloring is somewhat out of sync with my new surrounding FSGenesis N.American mesh"What has texture colour got to do with FSGenesis mesh? FSG does not alter any textures.

picky picky :D OK, the color of the Cloud9 tiles is a bit out of sync with the surrounding FSX tiles.Randy Jura, KPDX

>default ground textures, jetways, etc. and they charge that>much? are you kidding me?No one's trying to kid you, Alex. Have you downloaded the add-on? Have you discovered all that's in it? What would you do differently that FSX hasn't made available to the developers? Most people (95%) I talk to really like it. Frame rates are very acceptable and surprisingly high compared to similar add-ons in FS9. So give it a trial. I dare say that if you're complaining about the price, then FSX isn't a product for you in the first place, unless of course you've already got a system that will give you 40 fps with max scenery/AI sliders at O'Hare. :-)Cheers,Barthttp://acquiry.com/picts/BartMig110_sml.jpgCloud9 Beta Team

I suspect that your problem has to do with GOFLIGHT's module and Cloud9's add-on manager interacting in some way. It didn't sound like you tried it without GOFLIGHT installed. As we all know, the first go-round with any product is likely to produce interesting results with so many diverse installs. We had a few people report CTDs with the FSX Add-On manager, but this was rare. On some machines, CTDs have occurred due to conflicts with existing sound cards or built-in sound boards and antiquated drivers.Cheers,Barthttp://acquiry.com/picts/BartMig110_sml.jpgCloud9 Beta Team
