If it's of any help, I see no advertisements anywhere.

I use a rather good browser named Brave, which includes

something called Brave Shields.

Ironically it seems to be based on Google Chrome.🙂

😆 If the exit poll is to be believed it made not a ha’peth of difference. Largest Conservative majority since 1983. 😄

Not to worry. Given the estimated size of the Tory majority I doubt I’ll be seeing any Socialist ads for a long time.

I use Safari and have lots of favourites and passwords stored. Too much effort to start again.

Have switched off the radio as I am sick of hearing presenters interviewing has-been washouts like Adonis, B-liar's adviser who took us to war, Campbell Soupcan, and some berk Faulkner.😣 Kind of like, 'Ma, what's for dinner tonight?'. 'Spuds'. 'Oh, no not again, Ma, that's 4th night on the trot!!', as a presenter who purports to call herself a journalist, interviews those 'word-not-allowed'.

Hmm,

I see this being locked but for the record,

we had two choices, disaster or catastrophe.

I have had my question answered so see no reason for further debate. Political discussion is not welcomed by AvSim and I accept I stepped over that line. I think we can draw a line under this now.

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

That is not the case. AvSim has all kinds of control over the categories and types of ads that are show. They can allow interest based advertising, based on what the visitor may have searched for or looked at on other websites but, they can still restrict specific categories of advertising from being shown. The controls on their end are actually very granular, right down to blocking specific advertisers and even ads if they discover some that are a problem. Keeping in mind they need some revenue to cover costs, they still do have control. I have multiple websites that are partly monetized with advertising and have multiple categories blocked.

My biggest pet peeve, is that they are not using responsive ads on mobile with many of the ads extending beyond the viewport which in turn makes the main content move from side to side when scrolling down. This is just poor user experience and should be fixed.

My apologies.  You are correct.  I have done further research with the AVSIM Tech and have discovered we have a page where we can enable/disable sensitive categories.  This was never brought to my attention but this is not an excuse.  I should have checked before making my comments above.  Advertising is based on your interests (cookies) except for those sensitive categories that have been disabled.  We did not prohibit politics and religion so I was completely wrong and thank you for bringing this to my attention.
