December 16, 20196 yr I just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and 99% of my programs survived the move.. However, I installed the "latest" Garmin GTN Trainer (?) V 6.62.0 and the latest RXP GTN 750 V 2.5.21.1 and am getting a black screen in the GTN.. Is this the right Garmin GTN Trainer, or do I have the wrong package? Bert
December 16, 20196 yr Sorry about you upgrading. I just came over to the RXP Garmins 2 weeks ago, so I believe everything I received is the latest. My GTN Trainer exe Details (in Properties) are: File version: 6.62.0.0 Size: 5.02MB Date modified: 6/7/2019 4:50 PM Original filename: GTN Simulator.exe Did you disable UAC in Windows 10. Me thinks it may stop the Garmin stuff cold (as it does to a lot of apps). 😡 HTH, Greg
December 16, 20196 yr Author I have no idea what I am doing here.. On windows 7, it all just worked.. now it is inop in spite of all my efforts. UAC turned to "do not notify" does not appear to fix it.. AV turned off etc.. Still nothing. The GTN Trainer starts up OK, using the Garmin launcher.. Bert

I have the same RXP GTN 750 version you noted in your first post. Give me a few minutes and I'll post up some screenies of the RXP file structure for you to compare your install to. Greg
December 16, 20196 yr As you can see these are all in the Program(x86)/Reality XP folder (default install). And a copy of the Add-on.xml file in Documents/Prepar3d v4 Add-ons/Reality XP GTN folder: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <SimBase.Document Type="AddOnXml" version="3,3" id="add-on"> <AddOn.Name>Reality XP GTN</AddOn.Name> <AddOn.Description>Legendary Gauges Redefined</AddOn.Description> <AddOn.Component> <Category>DLL</Category> <Name>Reality XP GTN Menu</Name> <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\Reality XP\GTN Simulation\FltSim\64\rxpGTN_menu.dll</Path> </AddOn.Component> <AddOn.Component> <Category>Gauges</Category> <Name>Reality XP GTN Gauge</Name> <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\Reality XP\GTN Simulation\FltSim\64</Path> </AddOn.Component> </SimBase.Document> I've got other stuff in a couple of f1 folders over in the Users/.../Roaming folder (that I know are related to my RXP purchase from earlier in the month) but I'm not sure it's of much consequence. Really, not much in those 2 folders. I'll grab some screens of them if these don't offer much for troubleshooting. Greg
December 16, 20196 yr Author OK... appreciate the help! I think you are right about the hand-shaking or lack thereof.. I have now turned off Windows Defender and am making some progress! Not sure all is working, but I am getting the GTN waking up.. Bert

Running W10 since this computer was new, now four years ago, and I use Defender and Malware Bytes. Have excluded only two files and everything on my system works fine. rxpGtnSim32.dll [this is a RXP file] gtninterface.dll [this is not a RXP file] Frank Patton Corsair 5000D Airflow Case; MSI B650 Tomahawk MOB; Ryzen 7 7800 X3D CPU; ASUS RTX 4080 Super; NZXT 360mm liquid cooler; Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM; RMX850X Gold PSU;; ASUS VG289 4K 27" Display; Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Crosswind 3's w/dampener. Bert, Go to Virus and Threat Protection, Virus & Threat Protection Settings/Manage Settings, then scroll down to Exclusions. December 16, 20196 yr Bert, With Windows 10, which includes Defender, (which is an AV) you do not need a 3rd party AV. I would disable one or the other as using two AV could cause conflict (guessing). Defender has been flawless. I use Malware Bytes as a layer of extra protection from malware, such as ransomware, etc. Frank Patton Corsair 5000D Airflow Case; MSI B650 Tomahawk MOB; Ryzen 7 7800 X3D CPU; ASUS RTX 4080 Super; NZXT 360mm liquid cooler; Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM; RMX850X Gold PSU;; ASUS VG289 4K 27" Display; Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Crosswind 3's w/dampener. Frank is correct... you really don't want more than one AV. Lot's of comparisons around the 'net... Defender rates well. As I recall AVG has a removal tool... you really need to use it as directed to remove the addon AV. Defender has always worked well for me, if perhaps a little too "well" at times. That's where the exclusions can come in handy. A good guide on configuring exclusions in Defender is this one by Windows Central Greg
