Strange FPS drop every second

Featured Replies

happy new year to all.

While the x-mas break i´ve build my A-320 homecockpit. When i was finished few days ago i started my P3D PC again and everything seems as usual before. But after 1 Minute the FPS starts to "switch" from 30 to 28 every second. Really, you can wind your clock on this. It´s really like a ticking clock. 30..28..30...28..30..28.

The FPS are limited to 30. I´ve changed nothing of the setup of my P3D PC. The only change is that is use a 42"TV-screen at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 which is the same resolution as i used with my normal PC-Monitor before. I allready  have cleared the shadercash, sceneryindex and i´ve deleted the P3D-config and builded a new one. No change.  The weird thing is that it doesn´t matter if i change my graphicsettings in P3D. Even if i put everything to lowest this "ticking" of the FPS apears. If i unlimit the FPS with lower settings i get 130 FPS and the tiking then is 130 128 130 128. The outcome of this clocklike FPS drop is that  i have a precise stutter in P3D every second. Like a hickup.

My System is an overclocked I9 9700K, HT off, no AM,  RTX 2080. And before x-mas my sim was running as smooth as butter with high settings. It even makes no difference at which airport or with which add-on active or not.

Does anyone have a clue what could be the reason for this FPS "ticking".

"The only change ..." I'd start looking there for the problem/answer.

BTW, 9700s don't have HyperTreading.

Are you running with the native resolution of your monitor?

As you guess, it is pretty word not allowed sure related to the use of the TV instead of the monitor. To make this sure, simply put your monitor back once to see if this cures the hickups. If yes, you can start with trying to find why this TV results in a hickup. If the hickup remains after going back to the monitor, something else is wrong...

I guess it is somehow related to what you use in your Prepar3d settings, your nVidia profile and the refresh rate of the TV vs. refresh rate of the monitor.

Question 1: are TV and monitor connected with the same cable?

Question 2: observe the NCP when switching from the monitor to the TV, what general settings are automatically adjusted?

According to his signature, he uses a 9900K, not a 9700K, guess it was a typo...

Desktop wallpaper slideshow? I had an inexplicable stutter every 10 seconds at one point. Turned out to be the slideshow even though the sim was in (simulated) full screen so the desktop was entirely covered.

Use you CPU and GPU monitors to ser if you can find an underlying culprit for a 1 second tick.

It was indeed a typo, but anyway i found the cause and the issue is gone. It was the last update of GSX. I´am using a lua script from captpero which semi automates the GSX process from refuling to Boarding and vice versa and add cabin announcements etc. It seems that the script was damaged by the latest GSX update somehow. I´ve reinstalled this script and everything is fine again.

Thank you all for your ideas and hints.

Cheers
