Partially Frozen AI Traffic

Featured Replies

I have a strange situation at Seattle. After landing my Q400 at RW 16R I realized that six(!) ai a/c did not move anymore. Two of them were on RW 16C, four a/c were on taxiways between the runways. While those six were frozen, other ai traffic was still working. Airplanes were starting at runway 16L others were on landing approach for 16C but had to go around because of a/c on runway. I'm aware that sometimes ai a/c stop taxiing (freeze) quite a while when they are leaving the runway. But I've never experienced a situation when six a/c stopped moving.

Any ideas what I could do to avoid situations like this? Is it simply too much traffic so that P3D can't handle it? I'm using AIG-OCI, KSEA is from DD and P3D is running at moderate-high settings. I count 35 ai a/c at KSEA.

First thought is that they AI aren't actually "frozen", they're 'stuck' and have been held due to path conflicts in the ADE (AFCAD) with other traffic. I see this most often for AI vacating or crossing a runway. I'm not sure how optimized the DD scenery is but I see this sort of behaviour a bit at busy airports, including some payware ones with 'optimzed' taxiway/runway intersections.

+1

Open the airport with ADE and check for broken taxiway links. It is the source of these issues most of the time.

Thank you R, good point. I'll check the airport file.

Hi Harry

I would be very interested to hear what the outcome of this is. I have exactly the same issue at DD KSEA. Any AI aircraft landing on 16C or 16R will not taxi to parking. They just sit on the runway or at a taxiway until they time out. I am also using AIM-OCI and have the AI limit capped to 50 in FSUIPC. A quick slew around shows approx 30 AI aircraft at the airport.

I headed over to the DD forum but could not find anything specifically relating to this. I can work parking spots in the ADE but nothing more advanced yet.
