AMD 9900X3D with RTX 4090 and MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020
Awesome thank you for the input. I just started using PL as a way around the core parking. However I like the idea of moving other apps off of CCD0. I will do as you suggested and let the drivers do their thing and just use PL to place the other apps on CCD1.

AMD 9900X3D with RTX 4090 and MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020
Ok I now seem to have core parking working consistently. Problem is I am not really sure what fixed it as everything appears the same to me. Four flights with MSFS2024 (all re-launches of the app) and consistent core parking every time. So fingers crossed it stays this way.

AMD 9900X3D with RTX 4090 and MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020
I am using AMD Ryzen Master. I make MSFS 3/4 screen and make sure it is in focus. I will go back to the start and check every thing again before I do a full re-install. can I ask why you are not a fan of PL?

AMD 9900X3D with RTX 4090 and MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020
Just upgraded to the 9950X3D. ‘Same issue here. I have followed all the advice with multiple attempts and can not get core parking to activate. Currently using Process Lasso to put MSFS on CCD0. This is frustrating but I will continue to tinker. I did put a fresh copy of Win 11 over my existing copy in the hope it would fix it as others have suggested. Maybe it’s time to bite the bullet and just do a fresh install.

FSLTL Update
Yes those instructions look daunting. However once you read through them a couple of times and then just make a start and work through line by line it is not too bad. I use 1024 and find the visuals to be more than adequate. Well worth the effort.

AMD 9900X3D with RTX 4090 and MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020
So here is where I get confused. Marcus further down the thread you said that with MSFS that you could see 6 parked cores when it was in focus. So is MSFS effectively only running on 6 cores? That is 2 less than my 7800x3d, although you are running at a higher frequency. If I were to invest in upgrading the CPU, would a 9950x3d make more sense as with MSFS cores parked it would utilise 8 cores. Is there some reason the 9900x3d is considered a better choice?

AMD 9900X3D with RTX 4090 and MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020
Thank you very much for your summary Marcus. I look forward to any future comments you have regarding this CPU. I currently have the 7800X3D and are thinking about an upgrade. FPS is not that important to me but smoothness is.

Overexposed Clouds is Doing my Head In!
This is how I fixed for MS2020. However I don’t believe these settings are in the config for 2024. It is just rubbish we don’t have more control.

Nvidia driver
@ ashepard316 I fly in and out of UK2000 regularly in the AS320 and sometimes the NGX. I can maintain 30fps (not much headroom to spare though). I have a i3930K @ 4.7GHz with a GTX980. You have not mentioned what traffic you are using. I see the traffic slider set at 50%, that can be a lot of traffic at Heathrow and AI traffic is very CPU intensive. I use MyTraffic6 in conjunction with Aircraft Traffic Optimiser to limit the number of aircraft in my vicinity at any given time. If I had 50% traffic set at UK2000 Heathrow and no traffic optimisation my frame rate would tank. I set traffic to 25% and limit the number of aircraft with the traffic optimiser to 30. If you do a forum search for Air Traffic Manager that will give you some details. Air Traffic Manager does not work with all AI options though. They are fairly high settings you have dialled there. Have you tried backing those off a little? There is also another excellent topic running at the moment titled "A Frame-Time Analysis of P3D v3 -- Effects of CPU Affinity, Frame Lock, and HT". Not sure if you are already utilising some of those enhancements? I use a combination of them to achieve smooth performance at Heathrow. Out of the box I would not be able to achieve that. Any improvement w/ cloud impact on frame rate when using 4XSGAA in V3?
I remember reading in one of Rob Ainscough's posts a while back that LM had actually looked at working on excluding clouds from AA. I believe LM cited issues with comparability as the reason they did not go ahead with it. This was back in V2.5. I was hoping that we may have had this with V3 but unfortunately not. Without some level of SGSS I find it difficult to achieve the level of AA I am satisfied with. Michael M

Nvidia Inspector 1/2 refresh rate working?
Yes definitely doesn't work. Closest option is to set the refresh rate of your monitor to 30Hz, if your monitor does support this. Michael M

A temp fix for PMDG ATC window problem
Excellent been wanting a fix for that. Thank you for the heads up. Michael M

My Traffic 6
I had also notice this while sitting at the gate. For example UK2000 Heathrow, CPU was bogged down for a couple of minutes initially then would improve. I would then enable Traffic Manager and the CPU utilisation would increase around 20% for another couple of minutes before dropping back. For me it was the Jetways operating that was causing the issues. In V2.5 I had this disabled but forgot to do the same in V3. On my system these have a huge hit on resources. If anyone is looking to disable it, it is hidden in your MyTraffic6 folder then MyTraffic/Aircraft. Somewhere in there is Manage_Aircraft_Config and this will let you disable the Jetways. I am still finding that in V3, MyTraffic6 in loading more AI for a given setting then in V2.5 so have had to adjust levels accordingly. Michael M

P3D V3 pushing performance/VAS test videos
Yes Jay I am. If I go into the traffic sliders and reduce to zero all is good again. I am testing like for like against V2.5 compared to V3 in the way of settings. Only difference for me is I do not have FTX Global and OpenLC installed yet. I am not sure if the Traffic Manager is releasing the traffic immediately after it does the "delete" cycle. So even at MT6 @ 20% and Traffic Manager @ 20 aircraft I have to wait around 2 - 3 minutes before the stutters are gone. If I reduce traffic sliders they are gone immediately. Also when I monitor the Traffic Manager after the console window shows it has deleted x number of aircraft the "Last Count' figure stays on the original aircraft number. The last count does not decrease until around the 2 or 3 minute mark. Even when I feel that the Traffic Manager has released the aircraft I definitely can not carry the same settings as V2.5. Can I ask if you could check your Traffic Manager and see if its behaviour is identical to what you had in V2.5 in terms of time to delete. Regards Michael M I will try the standard AI later and see what results I get.

P3D V3 pushing performance/VAS test videos
Thank you for the effort you put into the videos Rob. I am seeing a huge difference with MT6 in P3DV3 compared to P3DV2.5. With V2.5 I had MT6 @ 30% and Traffic Manager @ 40 aircraft. At this setting I felt I still had plenty of headroom. In V3 I am back to MT6 @ 20% and Traffic Manager @ 20 aircraft and this is still right on the limit of causing stutters. I am hoping that down the track I can find a solution for this. Michael M

ASN Weather and Opusfsi Cameras
I agree. Would have been great to have just been able to purchase the camera part of the software at a reduced price. I originally started with Opus for weather so it was just an upgrade price for me. Can understand people not wanting to commit at the full price just for the camera functionality.

ASN Weather and Opusfsi Cameras
Yes I also gave up on EZdok a long time ago. Have used the combination of ASN for weather and OpusFSI for cameras successfully in P3DV2 and now have just started using it in P3DV3. I believe that OpusFSI is actually quite a good camera program once you wrap your head around it. Michael M

Trying to achieve the Dream of Smooth Stutter Free Simming
Hi, are you using "Air Traffic Manager" to tame your AI Traffic. Search "Traffic Optimizer for FSX/P3D" in the forums. I could not fly without it. You can set the target amount of aircraft and it will periodically cull the AI in excess of that number but keep your target numbert of aircraft intact near you. I have MyTraffic 6 set to 30% and I will also eventually get stutters from the AI traffic if flying in high density areas. Setting the "Air Traffic Manager" to a reasonable number solves my issues. I use between 30 - 50 depending on circumstances. Regards Michael M

Trying to achieve the Dream of Smooth Stutter Free Simming
Officially I don't believe there are many. I guess not many people really want to or have to need to run at 30Hz. It appears that some of the 4k and high res displays have this option. Maybe ask this question over on the Monitor forum and you could probably also get more technical insight about running your monitor at 30Hz. Michael M

Trying to achieve the Dream of Smooth Stutter Free Simming
Hi Tomaz You can create a custom resolution with NVC. Officially my monitor does not support 30Hz either so I just created a custom resolution for it. So people say it may damage your monitor, I do not know enough about this aspect to comment. I ran my Dell 24" for years at 30Hz and no problem. My new monitor uses an LG panel and the actual LG 34" supports a 30Hz preset. So I set mine to 30Hz and all is good. But this is still something each individual has to consider. If you do want to give it a try just google "create custom resolution with nvidia control panel". Good luck and if you do try it please let us know how you go. Regards Michael M

Trying to achieve the Dream of Smooth Stutter Free Simming
This is an interesting topic and one that I have spent an enormous amount of hours trying to conquer. I think it was SP1 in FSX when the dreaded micro stutters started for me. Anything other than 60FPS at 60Hz refresh rate and I have the micro stutters. To me it is one of the most immersion breaking, irritating aspects of the simulation. I know everyone is different but for me I find it hard to live with. Through many iterations of processors, motherboards, graphics cards, you name it and the result was always the same. Anything other that 60FPS at 60Hz and the micro stutters reared their ugly head. So I kept at the simulation but at the same time never became totally involved. Then I was reading a thread about NI and 1/2 refresh rate. Ok so I tried this as people were commenting on the smoothness and removal of the micro stutters. This was flight simulator heaven for me, what a smooth experience. I became more involved, purchased more scenery and aircraft and it was awesome. Then along came P3D V2 and I tried that. Anything other than 60FPS at 60Hz and the micro stutters were back. I tried every possible combination of settings but nothing made a difference. Problem was I was hooked on the look of P3D V2 but couldn't accept the micro stutters. Went back to FSX and felt I had given up a level of realism. Damn you LM for putting me in this dilemma. Then I read a post on the LM forums where a person had set their monitor refresh rate to 30Hz and locked the frame rate to 30FPS and solve their micro stutters. I also tried this and found that I can have 2 micro stutter free zones. Locked 60FPS at 60Hz or locked 30FPS at 30Hz. Obviously I chose locked 30FPS at 30Hz as it is unrealistic for me to achieve a constant 60FPS with NGX and AS 319/320. I have a 3930K @ 4.7GHz with a GTX980. Actually I lock the frames at 33FPS, turn Vsync on and triple buffering. This give me exactly the same result as what the NI 1/2 refresh rate did in FSX. No better and no worse just the identical experience. Of course settings still have to be balanced just like they would in FSX. If micro stutters are bothering you I would recommend you try this if your monitor can safely support a 30Hz refresh rate (check first) and you were happy with the NI 1/2 refresh rate experience in FSX. I have recently upgraded to a Dell U3415W from a 24" Dell and have set it to 33FPS @ 30Hz. On this monitor I still achieve an equivalent result to what I had previously. Overall a smooth stutter free experience. Regards Michael M

Consultation on HDR
Hi padolamap In the P3D Forums here at Avsim the is another section called P3D Tips and Tricks. Have a look in there for a Topic called Bloom Adjustments by Rob Ainscough. Read through the posting. It explains what adjustments you can make here. I find these adjustments make a big difference for me. Important - read carefully what you are about to do and make backups. It is all a compromise though, however it is worth the adjustment. Hope this gives you what you want. Michael M

Dell Ultrasharp U3415W 34" Curved Monitor
michaelray replied to Rocky_53's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcA big thanks to Jim and Flic1 for sharing the images of their Dell 34" experience. I have a Dell 24" 1920 x 1200 and was thinking of moving to a 27" or 30". After looking at what the wider view offered I was convinced the widescreen 34" was the way to go. Have now had the Dell U3415W for a week and I must say I am impressed. The "wideness" definitely adds to the immersion factor. Flying the NGX and AS 319 with the extra peripheral vision is just amazing. I am an AA junkie (yes hard to achieve good AA in P3D). On the previous 24" Dell I ran 4 x SGSS to help out with the AA. At 4 x SGSS on the Dell 34" it looked absolutely amazing (obviously helped by the tighter pixel pitch). However only the slightest bit of weather and the GTX980 is maxed out and we have a slideshow. Handles 2 x SGSS ok and looks marginally worse than 4 x SGSS on my 24" Dell. As previously stated there is some light bleed at the lower left and right extremities along with the standard IPS glow you will get with these panels. So flying in a totally dark room is not the best and I find I have to introduce a level of light into the room to reduce the above traits of this type of panel. For those who work and play on the same monitor, 34" is great for productivity also. In summary I am very happy with this purchase and once again it greatly increases the immersion factor for me. Taxiways at LFKB
I flew a BAV flight into and out of LFKB last week. No problems with taxiways. Just the basic default P3D LFKB airport on my system. Michael M
