ALPHA (fka Tech Alpha 2) Invite Emails

Recommended Posts

@artyom14, I'm currently waiting to hear back from support as well. Hopefully they will get it sorted out.

I had to take three screenshots to send them. Make sure your system is updated with the latest security updates.

@h2egc Yeah, I was in the same situation with the screen shots. Until I came home, restarted the PC 2 times, launched the Insider Hub and voila - got it. Downloading now :)

Hi All,

1st post :) Thanks for everyone's input. I am on Alpha as well - only using the PC though.

If any PC users here - please ensure that your "Windows login" is the same as your xbox insider login. If the local desktop is logged in with some other username/passwd, the Insider hub won't match the two.

Until I logged into Windows with the xbox account, the Insider hub did not show the Alpha download.

Ques: Anyone here suggest a joystick for the PC that works "out of the box" with MSFS 2020?

I have an old Logitech 3D. When the Alpha 2020 ran the first time, it came up blank without any assignments - will have to map every axis and button to get this to work.

TIA

Do you mean that I can't use my local PC password? I have to use my outlook account to unlock the PC?

Can anyone confirm this?

That is not what is meant at all. Microsoft has several places where you have to have a password to participate in. To participate in FS2020 you will have to use the password associated with your Gamertag to play the sim.

Can any Alpha tester read the Alpha tester’s forum now? I can read that forum until a couple of days ago, it’s completely gone.

Regarding "I have to use my outlook account to unlock the PC?" - Yes.

A (local) Windows account is not related/associated to your Gamer account/password in xbox unless you used the same account to login to your desktop.

For those who login to PC using a local account you might run into this issue that I did which initially prevented me from getting to the Alpha download. This was because I have multiple outlook.com/hotmail.com/live.com email addresses and my local Windows account was not connected to anything xbox. So if you have two or more outlook/hotmail/live accounts and you received the Alpha invite on the 2nd email address, you will not see the Alpha download:

1. You login to Windows desktop (e.g. myAccount-ID01) you notice that the gamertag and account are not the same as the email address on which you received the Alpha invite.

2. You used MyEmail-ID-02@outlook.com (or @hotmail.com or @live.com etc.) to receive the Alpha invite (and you use that ID for login to Outlook/XBox etc. via a browser).

In this scenario, you need to go into Windows settings - Accounts - Family and Other users - and click on your "MyEmail-ID-02@outlook.com" and click Allow. (If "MyEmail-ID-02@outlook.com" is not listed, you can add it using the + icon).

Next, right-click the Start button and Sign-out. Now sign back in using the "MyEmail-ID-02@outlook.com" username and password - If this is the first time logging into this PC as that user, it will ask you to assign a PIN during this process.

Once you are logged in using "MyEmail-ID-02@outlook.com" and password, open up the Alpha link from the email invite, and download the Insider Hub. Open the Xbox console on this PC and the Alpha download will be seen.

Hope this helps.

I'm not having a problem.

If you are on Alpha I would suggest you pose your questions on the insider area. It appears to me you are discussing something in the wrong forum.

I am currently using a Thrust master 16000m with throttle. Amazon 129.00 or so. It is detected by the Alpha but you can modify the assignments to suit you as well as sensitivity.

Thank you.

That seems an impossible task since the Alpha tester's forum(s) are no longer available! Hence asking for a bit of help is acceptable. Discussing controllers is not covered under the NDA.

Hi Bill,

For 80% Alpha tester's it's OK : Maybe 10% or 20% or more? have no access in forum,

and  their -Tech Alpha Insider-  titles are banned  without explanation.
