No Flap Retraction after Landing

Recommended Posts

Hello Bryan.

I‘ve noticed on several occasions, that the Copilot is not retracting the Flaps after Landing, although the after Landing flow is triggered successfully. The FO is performing all after Landing actions correctly, except for the Flaps.

Version is 1.5

Can‘t remember exactly if this happened on 1.4 as well.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Toto

Hi Toto,

That would be deliberate.  If cold weather procedures are in effect, the FO won't raise the flaps all the way in case the flap tracks have slush, etc., stuck in them.  That would be very hard on the flap motors if they had to fight a blockage like that.

Cheers,

Dear Bryan.

Thanks for your reply.

There were no cold weather Ops in Progress, although the Season selected was Winter, the OAT was at +15°C.

Best regards,

Toto

Using the Button Control version, never had that issue as the FO does all the 'Okay to clean-up checks'

Tried it again on the 747-400f ( before was on 747-8i ) :

Same here, no Flap Retraction after Landing. All other after Landing tasks are successfully triggered and performed by the Co-Pilot.

Season was Winter, no precipitation, +15°C.

Best regards,

Toto

I just tested it using standard day default weather (15 degrees C, clear skies) in SOP1 with Voice Control.

I skipped to "AFTER LANDING PROCEDURE mode using the arrow buttons on the FS2Crew Main Panel.

I spoke: "Okay to clean up".

The FO askes me if I wanted the APU on.

I said "Later".

He then did his flow and he retracted the flaps properly.

Try it exactly like that please using no weather.

If the flaps still aren't going up for you, watch for any hardware that may be overriding the flaps commend FS2Crew sends to the aircraft

Hello Bryan.

I've tested it again and it seems that the selected season in P3D makes the difference.

Tested it today in ENBR and ESGG with "Winter" as the selected season.

After landing, when the after landing flow is triggered, the Flaps will stay at 30.

Furthermore, both ( L/R ) Turnoff Lights will stay on.

With season set to "Autumn" / "Spring" / "Summer" there are no issues.

Best regards,

Toto

Hi Toto,

FS2Crew is looking at the surface condition and temperature (must be less than 10 degrees), to determine if to leave the flaps down after landing.  Theoretically, if the taxiways are contaminated, you wouldn't bring the flaps up in  case the flap tracks are jammed with slush, etc.

That would likely explain why this happened to you in the "Winter" season.

Cheers,

Hi Bryan.

Although Winter was the selected Season, the surface condition was dry and the OAT was at +15°C.

In Addition to the Flaps being not retracted, the F/O also left on the Runway Turnoff Lights.

Best,

Toto

Absolutely!

F/O:

- asks to turn on the APU

- turns on the APU

- turns off the XPDR

- turns off the Landing Lights

- turns off the Strobes

- etc.
