Flight1 GTN Complete problems

Featured Replies

I'm not sure if you might have overlooked this from the Flight1 web sight.

This product now requires the following Visual Studio 2017 redistributable packages: vc_redist.x86.exe and vc_redist.x64.exe. Please make sure these Microsoft Visual Studio Runtimes are installed to your system.

Don,

Thank you mate. I have got that and downloaded it.

This may sound a little stupid, but, where does that dll file go???

Remove the existing one to your desktop, insert the new one. It is the same one you will get from the 2013 redistributable x86. It is required in addition to the 2017 listed from the web site.

Don,

Those 2017 files, whilst I have downloaded and installed them (run as administrator) I am of the opinion these are a normal update with Windows 10 update. As my Windows 10 is always kept current, I am assuming that those files have just been overwritten automatically.

I also asked abut the .dll files. This is because I dont know if they are missing from Visual C ++, Themida, the GTN750 or P3D.

If you could just pass on to me the correct path, I would very much appreciate that

Regards

Tony

Replace the msvcr120 manually. Move yours to the desktop and insert the new one.

This is a Windows 10 system file.

Himmelhourse, while you may think Microsoft auto update everything this is not the case...

For the C++ 2013 runtimes there is a "manual" update for them.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3138367/update-for-visual-c-2013-and-visual-c-redistributable-package

Which sounds a lot like fixes for disappearing dlls as well as corruption.

You'll need to pick the one for you language locale, e.g. as I'm in Aust and use the English language locale I pick the English download.

When you use Microsoft Visual C++ 2013, you may encounter the following issues:

  • Heap corruption occurs because of a synchronization bug in SetLocale, and this triggers an access violation.
  • When you install an updated redistributable package, binaries for non-target architectures are removed. For example, after you install an update for an x86-based application, the x64 Visual C++ 2013 runtime libraries are missing. This fix makes sure that both versions of the Visual C++ redistributable are visible when you add or remove programs after installation of the update.

This update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Update 5 Redistributable Package is released as a download-only update and isn’t distributed through Windows Update.

Don,

Right mate I have done that ... rebooted .... turned off windows defender... got back into P3D

but I am stil getting the message "A key component of the Flight 1 GTN is missing. It is most likely that it was deleted by my antivirus." HOW????  I do not have any antivirus installed since I completely uninstalled my Avira antivirus this morning.

Apparently this non existent antivirus removed my gtninterface.dll.

I am suppossed to restore it from my quarantine files, but where do I find them if that programme does not exist on my computer.

Can you please tell me where I can find that file for a download? If not, could i prevail upon your good graces to send that file to me as well via the last method.  I would also very much appreciate the correct path.

Just for your further information also is the fact that I do not have anything remotely similar to GTN (either a zip or broken down file) in my guges folder.

WE may have actually tracked down the problem now .... I didna know.

Rogen,

A fellow Aussie eh. Good on yer mate.

OK now as I have stated, despite thinking that this was an automatic update. every time I have been asked to download and update these files I have been doing so. The GTN process actually offers a link and download during the install process.

Again, I must have downloaded the 2013 version (or whatever the GTN programme was pointing me at, at least 20 times. This is in addition to at least three or four manual downloads and installs,

However, Don has pointed out the 2017 version which I have downloaded and installed. I have also followed his instructions and replaced the msvcr120.dll file manually after moving the original to the desktop. This has actually made no difference. as I am still getting the missing gtninterface.dll message (as pointed out in my last post.)

I truly feel that we may actually be getting somewhere if I can find/download/get the gtninterface.dll file and put it into the guages folder. It certainly is not there.

At the very least though, we are a step closer to solving this problem I think.

Yep , Aussie and been flight simming since I bought a C64 and a pilot friend showed me how to use it.

But Mate, if you don't want to download what is a Microsoft "UPDATE" package that fixes Microsoft's own problems.

Which includes fixes for disappearing dlls and corruption, which both appear to be both things you're sufferening from.

Then that is up to yourself.

The link I provided is the latest update for the 2013 C++ runtimes and is different to that of Don's.

Cheers

Most likely your Avira antivirus deleted GTN trainer files.I have Norton and it did the same thing.

You can try your anti virus "history" and select exclude or go to settings and create an exclusion by navigating to the two files below.

Flight1GPS Update Tool.exe

C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3Dv4\F1GTN\F1Update Tool.exe

GTN Simulator.exe

C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roamiing\Flight1 Aviation Technologies\GTNGauge\GTNSysV662\GTN Simulator.exe

OR,

You will have to uninstall and reinstall GTN trainer to get the files back. Hopefully it will work.

Its getting late, pick this up tomorrow.

Rogen,

I do not want to sound disparaging with this, but as I pointed out, I have downloaded and installed that link many times. It did not solve my problems (if it had this topic would not have been started LOL)

I have tried the 2017 version of that file and live with hope at the moment.  I am still getting the error I mentioned above.

I am at the point of desperation and I am going to try any thing I can to try to sort this out.

I am in full agreement with you regarding the Microsoft update process, and as such, do not want to start an argument with you or put you offside. I appreciate all and any help here.

Don,

I have not got an antivirus history...I have NO antivirus installed since I uninstalled this morning.

Prior to the uninstall of antivirus, I have uninstalled Flight 1 Purchase tool, I have uninstalled Flight1 GTN750, I have uninstalled the Garmin PC Trainer, rebooting after each uninstall.

Once everything was ininstalled I turned Windows Defender off, so, no antivirus and no Win Defender. I then downloaded a clean copy of the Purchase Agent and installed it using "run as Administrator" Using the freshly downloaded and installed, Purchase Agent, I downloaded the Flight1 GTN 750 complete. Please note ... No antivirus and no Wind Defender. I then downloaded and installed the Garmin PC Trainer (as Aministrator)GTN750  (still with no antivirus and no Win Defender.) I then set up the Garmin Trainer and ensured that all avionics were "ON". Having done that, I downloaded and installed the Flight 1 GTN750 Still no antivirus or Win Defender.

If you, or anyone else, can tell me how a non existent antivirus programme can delete a gtninterface.dll file and create the havoc I am experiencing, I would be very pleased to get that information.

Please also note that I still have no antivirus installed nor do I have Win Defender turned on.

If I am doing something wrong in the whole installation procedure, I have no idea what it is. I am following the GTN manual and the Garmin manual, both of which are sitting along side of me on a second monitor, during the installation.

As stated, I think we have made some progress though, if someone can send me via email or any other means the gtninterfact.dll file, so that I can put it into the gauges file, it may be what fixes the whole thing.  I cannot find after googling any pointer to that file, and I cannot get it through the GTN 750 install process either (due to antivirus activity????)

When you say you downloaded and installed from the link, which link?

In anycase the 2017 version runtimes are not an update to the 2013 version runtimes.

The C++ runtimes are all separate versions, I actually have 24 different versions installed.

Each version to be installed will depend on what version of Microsoft Visual Studio was used to build the app.

One particular application might have been built with Visual Studio 2013 and therefore require the 2013 C++ runtimes installed.

Another particular application might have been built with Visual Studio 2017 and therefore require the 2017 C++ runtimes installed.

Plus there are x86 and x64 versions

Hence why I have 24 different versions of the C++ runtimes installed.

And Microsoft tend to break the installs for them fairly reguarly...

As I've shown with my own update of my F1 GTN, as long as the appropriate runtimes are in place and AV isn't killing the install, things should be fine.

Cheers

Rogen,

I have no idea, I have downloaded and installed visual c++ and redistributable 2013 2015 2017 so many times (well not the 2017) I no longer have a grip on what is going on.

I think from memory, I googled and went to the download site from there.

I have no idea either, whether of not, the files I am installing are replacing existing files or just mounting up in the system.

In truth, this GTN install has become so complicated that I no longer know which way is up.

As I have said, initially, every time I tried to install this GTN I was asked to download the latest (or required) version of visual c ++ This I did many many times, through the install process and manually. I can only assume that Flight 1 know (or have some idea at least) what they bloody need for the install. THAT is the procedure I followed.

Then up comes the 2017 requirement from Don so I downloaded and installed that.

Regardless, I would now like to try to install the missing gtninterface.dll file. I cannot find a link to that as a download and it is obviously being robbed/deleted/misplaced/lost or whatever by whatever, in the download process. If someone could pass that to me (legally???) I can at least try to see if that can fix my problem.

I apologise if I sound a little irate, but I just seem to be going round and round and, further, I am desperately worried about disappearing into my lowers orifice.

The gtninterface.dll is located in the gauges folder. It is part of the GTN trainer. It's either missing or corrupt.

You will have to uninstall and reinstall GTN trainer to get the file back.

*Do a search on Flight1 GTN Support*

If you do this you will need to remove Flight1 Aviation Technologies folder located in >Local Disk (C:)> Users>yourname>AppData>Roaming.

Delete from gauge if still there. Reinstall.

If you put your anti virus back in, your going to have to create exclusions immediately or it will delete the dll again.

I have experienced these same problems when updating to P3D4.5 a short time ago, and this is what I did to fix them.
