March 7, 20206 yr Occasionally, on the spur of the moment, one tends to make an extra couple SIM purchases (usually that happens to me during the year-end-sales), but, then one loses track of one or two of those SIMs...so those aircraft or/and scenery remain dormant in the hangar (or, more correctly, in our hard-drive), until, to be discovered, at a later time... Today, I found these two, below, that I'd happened to collect sometime during the end of last year, but had completely forgotten about: Latin VFR KSAN Wilco Tecnam P2006T So, today, I installed both into my SIM and did a trip from KCEC airport, near Crescent City (CA), (up near the CA/OR border), flying down south, on Orbx's NCA (NorCal), along the Pacific coast...all the way further south to San Diego (KSAN). I am a (little) familiar with this route because of a couple of reasons. First, during one of my visits to San Francisco, I had the chance to drive (actually, been well-advised, I let a more experienced Californian drive, instead!) along State Route 1 from San Francisco down to Santa Barbara (located north of Los Angeles). This highway contains segments of quite dramatic and remarkable coastline scenery, but it can be quite nerve-racking at times too...with its (many) twists, turns, and cliffs...! Second, during a visit to Los Angeles, I had taken the Amtrak train south to San Diego...many years ago...but, I do recall, when I had asked for a round-trip ticket at the LA Union Station counter, I was prompted if I wished to upgrade to the 1st class (for a minimal extra expense)...which I did. Then while approaching to board the train, the platform conductor (rather) courteously had guided me to my (upper-level) first class car. It was week-end noon, but to my surprise, I was the only one in the (long and un-cluttered) 1st class car...I settled down unfolding the neat little table in front of me, with an (aviation?) magazine in hand...But, here is the part, I recall best...I was startled by a voice (the cabin stewardess's) asking me, "Sir, would you like a glass of wine?" I was, frankly, not expecting any such service on so short a train trip...Of course, I gladly agreed to be served a glass of California wine...and was also advised that there are more snacks and drinks selections, in the galley, if I wished to help myself...Oh well...so, while I sipped my wine, I enjoyed the nice views out the large windows, watching the California country-side pass by...the train making occasional stops at the picturesque (but tiny) en-route stations... Now back to this post: This plane looks interesting on first sight...one reason I had got it! The manual says it's a New Generation Light Twin-Engine Aircraft. Its revolutionary Rotax 9125 engines operates on standard automotive fuel, lowering the operating costs. There is option to use AVGAS as well allowing Tecnam P2006T to fly in regional or remote areas where AVGAS is difficult to find or prohibitively expensive...(interesting concept)... So, please find, below, a set of travelogue sights from this trip, the route and region, in RW, being an incredible combination of mountains, lakes, and, of course, the pristine Pacific waters - included, here, are e.g. shots of Sierra Nevada mountains and Lake Tahoe...(BTW, hoping, one day, to fly over this same region, with the (new) MSFS scenery...!) The shown livery (D-GCWM), here, is a Privately owned Tecnam aircraft registered in Germany - very far from home for this post! Anyway, hope you enjoy these images - along with this unique (albeit probably simple) plane. [Orbx(NCA)/LVFR(KSAN)/Wilco(Tecnam)/REX]
March 8, 20206 yr Great screenshots. What a nice looking small twin. I might check that out. I also note that you appear to have Britney Spears as your copilot! I have Latin VFR's KRSW airport for FSX (Western Global's hub - you know I like hauling cargo with MD-11s ), and I'm impressed with their work so far. March 8, 20206 yr Author Mark, Patrick (and Alan): Glad for your interest...thanks!! Mark: First, if it was indeed the singer, not sure why, but she seemed to have been programmed by the creator of the plane only to look out the copilot's window (please see images)...I hope she was, at least, also, scanning the "six" basic gauges on this simple flightdeck (with no CDU no real Glass!)...as I'd taught her...🙂... Yes, I know you're into (such) Airport FSX sceneries...(admirably trying to support their businesses...)...And, correct, I am always impressed by LVFR products, don't have too many, though, (I had posted about their San Juan before, at which time I'd likely purchased this one too...(on SALE))...After a long and tedious MD-11 cargo-haul flight, it's sure fun to look around a bit of nice airport scenery...on arrival...! Patrick: Appreciated! Yes, it was a simple flight but great fun...And, noted the wink... 🙂...! BTW, more seriously, the isolated (but abruptly rising) mountain peak...you see it first on image #8 (on the left horizon) and then on image #9, that caught my attention from far (to cause me a detour), while heading south on California coast, is (I found today) actually "Mount Shasta". It's 14,179 feet high and is listed as one of the most voluminous and a potentially active stratovolcanoes. I read also that, "The mountain has attracted the attention of poets, authors, and presidents, and today, Interstate 5, brings thousands of people each year to Mount Shasta". No wonder! It does look impressive even in the SIM.... Good rest of the weekend!
