IFR simmers in multiplayer

Featured Replies

All,I have been spending my time today in multiplayer mode, trying out different things. I'm really enjoying this! The new Air Traffic Controller functionality is something.I have played both pilot and air traffic controller and both are enjoyable. However, as a real-world IFR pilot I wanted to shoot instrument approaches in the goo. After looking around for a while trying to find a hosted session like this and failing, I decided to host my own! Only problem is, nobody joined. :-( So now I'm curious. How many real IFR pilot use FS to practice approaches? (Not logged time, of course, just for fun)GlennBuilder/Owner/PilotVelocity Elite RG N697RG

yeah me too, ive gotten into mp a bit and i like it although its pretty much willy nilly. i think though for it to be really great i think it needs to be highly organized, i see VA's doing this , i think with some tight organization it could be very good!ciao!Brian S

Well, considering that it's still a relatively small percentage of people who have the retail FSX, I'm sure this will improve. Might take a couple weeks and people will be probably spending their first couple days/weeks learning their way around the new sim, tweaking, resolving issues, etc.I bet by Xmas time there will be tons of very organized flying going on...--2002cbr600f4i

its a great idea Glenni think by announcing on this (avsim) forum your intentions would probably attract a lot of peapleI think you can create a specific enviornment for ifr approaches with 1000 ft cielingthis would be a lot of fun and good practice, count me in next time you try to do itBo

Check out www.vatsim.net we fly in MP sessions all the time. FSInn has just released a version of the pilot client that allows you to use FSX on VATSIM. You can get that for free at www.mcdu.com

All,I've started a new session at DAB. I'll leave it open for a while and see what happens. This scenario is for full ILS approaches into DAB 7L. The weather is overcast, ceiling is 250 ft, visibility 1/2 mile in light rain. I'm the ATC and will provide vectors to the approach similar to the real deal. I learned to fly in this area so I'm very familiar with it.The FAA approach plate can be downloaded here: http://avn.faa.gov/d-tpp/0610/00110I7L.PDF. This is the airport diagram: http://avn.faa.gov/d-tpp/0610/00110AD.PDF.Jeremy, thanks for the invite to VATSIM! I'll check that out soon.Regards,Glenn

Could take months for FSX to catch on.
