April 10, 20206 yr Author Getting back to the OP’s post (wait, its me!), I would wait to buy a SSD right now. FS20 cache seems to be unlimited in its size, so the bigger the SSD is, the better it is, including for all those with a cap which is a detestable feature of the US ISP market. Beyond 2TB, disks are really expensive these days. They should be less with time. A caveat though, nobody can reasonably predict the effect on prices of the big recession ahead. April 10, 20206 yr Probably not a good idea to wait on SSDs if you're looking for capacity. They are steadily getting pricier already, and the new consoles will heavily increase the demand for NAND flash. This year will bring us faster PCIe 4.0 SSDs, but cheaper capacity will probably come later in 2021 with next-generation 3D NAND and QLC production ramping up, and that is assuming no more price-fixing incidents...
April 10, 20206 yr Domke, you really have a need to open new topics, don't you? 😛 Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

I've got one M.2 slot spare, at a push I could move my 2 1TB M.2's I have at this moment in time into my two other PC's if in a couple of years time, if larger than 2TB M.2 SSD fall in price. If not when I can afford at least a 2 TB M.2 I'll get one, but an upgrade for my GPU comes first. In two years the PCIe 4.0 (that your X570 can take advantage of) controllers should be a lot more mature, and we could have flash memory beyond the 128-layer 3D NAND technology (which is ramping up as we speak) which should finally make capacities of 2-4TB affordable.
