Giving GPU more work

Featured Replies

Flying the "old" 😉 P3D v4.5 with I7-8700K (no overcl.) and Geforce GTX 1080ti, realizing CPU with 12 Threads working around 85% and GPU around 30%. Is it possible to move more work to the GPU to relieve the CPU a bit (other than increasing tesselation) ?

I think that shadows, antialiasing, dynamic lightning are the settings that give more work to the GPU.

I7-10700 (4.8 GHz with HT enabled)

2x16GB DDR4 3600MHz

Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super OC Gaming

Nothing that YOU can shift from the CPU to GPU. Only newer APIs like Vulkan or DX12 can do this.

Thanks,

I thought, that an I7-8700K would not be a bottleneck !?

The I7 shows about 95% working performance, the GPU Nvidia Geforce GTX1080x only 27% ???

Depends on your settings. Push up the SSAA setting and you will get high GPU usage, especially when Dynamic lighting kicks in at night.

How are you measuring?

It's not a bug. The Windows Task Manager GPU performance setting defaults to the wrong value. Open the GPU performance tab. Click on the little 3D tab and change the value to Graphics_1:
